Any Downsides to June Retake Post Acceptance? Forum

I'll be retaking this June to shoot for a higher score to leverage more scholarship/get off waitlists. I scored a 167 on the December 2015 test, which was my first take.

I've heard back from all schools I applied to, and I've been waitlisted at Columbia, rejected by NYU, and accepted with a 1/2 tuition scholarship at Cornell. At this point, I'll be accepting Cornell's offer.

My objective is to score high enough that I can either leverage a larger scholarship out of Cornell, get accepted at Columbia, get back in the running at NYU, or reapply next cycle, if my June score is high enough to justify doing so.

My question is whether or not a lower score can in some way hurt my offer at Cornell. I will have accepted Cornell's offer and submitted my deposits by the time I sit for the test.

I'm aware that I've asked essentially the same question in another post, but I'd like to be absolutely sure of what I'm getting into if the LSAT Gods give me a turn for the worst...

I don't see how this could be a negative. However, I do think that you should set a score at which you will withdraw from Cornell and apply for the next cycle. Given medians for HYS, that number is likely 171-173.

Also, congrats on half tuition at Cornell. That by itself is a pretty good outcome.

I'm riding with a LSDAS of 3.7.

I agree with you, but I'll certainly be contemplating the decision further once the score is in hand.
