I really want a full ride, but I keep seeing people with dope numbers who were KJDs and got short-changed.
it'll probably help named $ chances, but it'll also
be useful for OCI during law school.
I see people saying around here, what exactly does this mean? Like, i'm not too clear on how having WE helps during OCI?
I'd assume you'd just have something of quality to talk about during interviews. idk wtf I'd talk about if I never had a job. I'd imagine firm hiring is nothing like, say, law school admission interviews. I could be wrong, but I assume that's why people say KJD hurts you during OCI IF you don't have grades that'll most likely get you hired.
I haven't been through the process (obv), but that's what I've picked up based on the other forums.

-5 on PT 72, which I did about a month and a half ago. Two less points on LR than I did originally. Well, that's scary.

I understand. It's just kind of awkward as to how an irrelevant (assuming irrelevant aka non-legal) job could help. I just picture someone saying "yeah.. i wanna work at your firm because i really loved my position at Burger King..oh, no, i got fired because the manager hated me on a personal level, not because i cursed out a customer...bro" Lmao.

171 on 69 after BR.
it is bery nice to see this so close to the exam. feels goodman.
71 tomorrow, 75 Saturday.
A lot of the questions I went back over during BR I initially had the correct answer choice circled during the timed run, went back and changed...and then changed again during BR.
I need to trust my gut a bit more.

Mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, I felt like I completely bombed just about every section, so I should be happy that I didn't. On the other hand, I'm still getting snagged by one or two stupid mistakes during games, which really ticks me off. The LR and RC questions I missed were tough, so I'm not feeling too bad about that.
And since I know some folks have 77 slated for the next couple days, I'll tuck this reaction away here:

congrats on the score! massive improvement!
I also just finished up PT 77, gonna BR and score tomorrow. I
might have actually gone -0 on games:

- the third rule is the key to this game, and pretty much the only rule that matters.
granted, I took PT 77 as my actual administration, but I guessed on all 5 questions for G3 and didn't look up any explanations so I really had no advantage besides knowing it was going to be hard, so I went ahead and did the 4th game before the 3rd
I regret taking the LSAT before mastering LG, though
edit: scored the LG section and went -1. missed #15 (G3), which is the only one I circled
protein, how did you do on the actual dec test? i also took this test for real in dec and went -4 on G3 alone.
took it again recently and did much better as i never reviewed my IRR from dec or discussed any questions from 77 before taking it. have to say though that simply knowing that G3 was crazy made me mentally ready for tough spots in the test such as game-3 and passage-3 in rc. i also skipped G3, did G4 first, and that is something that i didn't do in dec.

I have a (barely) T14 worthy score (if you want the actual number just lemme know and I'll PM you), but it was lucky as hell. I guessed on all 5 on G3 and went -4 total on LG on the real thing. I also went -3 on RC somehow, but I don't recall struggling with it. did worse than average on both LR sections, but I definitely had test day shock, which I definitely won't have this time around.
I did G4 before G3 on the real thing.

After more/less a week off travelling to school and enjoying Welcome Week, finally was able to fit in a BR of a previous test and a new PT.
Went something like this:
PT 64
LR 1: -1 (BR -0)
LR 2: -5 (-4)
LG: -6 (-3)
RC: -5 (-3)
Scaled: 167 (173)
This was my best overall PT so far. First time I broke into the 170s even on a BR.
PT 65 (haven't BR yet)
LR 1: -5
LR 2: -1
LG: -7
RC: -4
Scaled: 167
Kinda mad I didn't improve on PT 65. I'm going to chalk it up to my body hating me from a week of debauchery. Gunna see what happens on BR.
I think what's bothering me is the lack of consistency in LR. I know that I haven't done enough work on LG to really know what I'm doing yet, and RC I've improved on a ton and have been getting around 3-5 off on each section. But in LR there are some sections I'll go -1 or -0 and then I'll churn out a -5 or -6 on the same test. Frustrating. Probably going to have to get a litttttttttttttttle lucky on test day to hit my target score. Then again I've only taken like 8 PTs and I wanna take like 7+ more before test day so maybe I'll go up a bunch.

LG is pretty easy to learn I think, so you're in a pretty good spot. Review your methodology and board set up and you'll be set, these games are mostly the same thing with a different coat. Also review LG on 7sage if you don't already, he can often gleans some insights on good approaches you might not have thought of.

I thought Harvard didn't give merit aid? I know a good scholly is important to you, but I think Harvard only gives need-based money. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah, I know that. Considering about saying fuck it tho. Just something I'm considering, esp if merit aid doesn't work out elsewhere.

The way I see it, is taking on Debt (although always shitty) is wayyyy more worthit when you are talking T14.. and HYS, More specifically, in my mind. Granted, I don't think you can fuck up a decision by choosing a Top 5 for another one based on the scholarship $, but I wouldn't be short-sighted in only choosing a school because you got more money from them when another school might be more suited for you and your desires (even if its only a hair more)...
Thats the way I see it. I would love to get as much money as possible, but at the end of the day, that is not going to be what my choice rides on.. And this is coming from someone who will have to take a loan out.

I just achieved my first 180
Though it was a test I've taken before (I'm 100% out of fresh material, urgh), I'm still pretty happy! I took Friday-Monday off to avoid burnout and apparently it's helping!
Anyone else feel like PT 64 was exceptionally easy?

I understand. It's just kind of awkward as to how an irrelevant (assuming irrelevant aka non-legal) job could help. I just picture someone saying "yeah.. i wanna work at your firm because i really loved my position at Burger King..oh, no, i got fired because the manager hated me on a personal level, not because i cursed out a customer...bro" Lmao.
"Also, getting biglaw in general, regardless of grades, depends on interviewing skills and other factors. Grades make you eligible for better firms, interviewing gets you the job. It's a bit easier for people with good grades primarily because their grades get them in the door at firms with larger class sizes that can afford to hire more people. And sure, sometimes interviewers will be so impressed with grades that they'll lower the bar for you. And if your grades are really bad, yeah, that'll hurt. But just "below median" is not going to be noticeably different than just above median. You'll generally be interviewing with firms in the same gpa range."

Still need to work on RC as much as possible to get that down. Passage 1 + 2 took me ~20 minutes; thankfully passage 3 was a science passage that I followed pretty easily and finished in ~6 minutes so I was able to get through everything in time, but I don't want to count on that happening during the actual exam. Unlike a month ago, I can consistently go -0/-1 on RC BR. Finished LG in ~28 minutes but made a silly error that I didn't catch when reviewing at the end.
Solid score.
