June LSAT Digital Photo

I ran a search and could not find an answer to this, so please excuse if this has been asked. Since the June LSAT is requiring test-takers to upload their photo upon registration, does anyone have advice on where to get a digital passport photo that can be uploaded to their computer? Sounds simple enough, but I have been to two CVS locations and a Walgreen's and none of them have been capable of transferring the passport photo to a jump drive.

This really ought not to be that difficult...

Why not just take a regular passport photo and scan it?

Definitely an option, just trying to keep the process uncomplicated. And I worry that if I scan it, the photo will look grainy/not as clear and all the horror stories of people being turned away on test day for non-pristine photos have me anxious.

Maybe I'm not thinking clearly, but why isn't just taking a selfie against a white background ok?

LSAC recommends you use a passport-style photo and the norm has always been to go to a CVS or Walgreen's and get one taken due to how strict LSAC is regarding the photos.

I may just be over-complicating the whole thing, but every test there are people who get turned away for the smallest of issues regarding photos so I'm just trying to get it as close to the LSAC example and rules as possible.

Kinda depends on how much you are willing to pay. There are some headshot studios that do passport-style photos and will shoot it digitally so they can just send you the file, but it won't be cheap - I would guess $50 on the very low end. Honestly if I were you I would just take a photo with your iPhone and use it. Just make sure you take it in good light (best is with a window directly in front of you, diffused with a white sheer curtain), against a white wall - try to replicate a passport photo as much as possible. I would think that with them accepting digital uploads now they are going to have to lower their photo standards a little bit since a huge chunk of test takers are going to be taking phone selfies.

Otherwise, just have Walgreens/CVS scan the passport photo, almost all of them have scanners that should be high-quality enough.

Now that I've already uploaded a photo to my registration, can I update it? And if not, how do I get my print out on photo paper picture for test day?

Sorry to hijack the thread.

I believe there is a way to update your picture from your LSAC account, not sure how. I'm just going to get a passport photo printed, see if I can scan a good quality copy in for digital use and then bring the printed one with me on test day.

Since this is the first time they're doing the digital upload I'm going to expect it may not go as smoothly as LSAC believes it will.

Cheapest option

Take a selfie against a white background
Upload to usb
Go to fed ex / kinkos
Use the self-service kiosk to print out a 4x6, but minimize the entire picture to the second smallest option
It will cost 42 cents and fit perfectly in the LSAC box

So I got my picture taken at CVS, and the picture itself is high quality, but when I try and scan it, it loses some of its quality - no matter how high quality of a scanner I use. Anyone else having this problem?

I actually emailed my picture to LSAC and asked them if it was acceptable - but who knows how long it'll take them to reply (and my test center is filling up fast).

Are you not allowed to register if the photo doesn't go through? It's better to save a seat at your first choice test site than worry about whether or not your photo is fine.

I ended up getting a better quality scan and just submitted it. Still isn't perfect, but yeah, you HAVE to submit a photo now in order to register. The worst.

And, if anyone was curious, LSAC emailed me back saying they couldn't confirm whether or not my picture was acceptable lol.

Hi there,

I uploaded a passport photo that was older than 6 months and need to replace the photo. Unfortunately, I can't see anything on the LSAC page that allows you to replace the LSAC photo once uploaded. Does anyone see a re-upload button?

Thanks,

Katie

Call LSAC. They will deactivate the photo and you can re-upload after that.
