172-174 LSAT range: better to cancel for HLS/YLS/SLS?

Hi all,

Supposing I get a score in the 172-174 range and supposing I'm planning on retaking to get a higher score, is it better to accept the first score or to cancel it for HLS/YLS/SLS?

If it's any help in deciding, my GPA is 3.85 from a HYS school, and I'm Asian.

Thanks!

You'd be crazy to cancel anything 165+ because anything could happen at future adminstrations (proctor calls time too early/ illness during test) or you could have scored 176+ and never know due to the cancel.

Don't cancel, especially if you're indifferent about which of YHS you get. H doesn't average, and Y and S probably won't either for someone with your numbers, especially if the "low" score is a 172.

Retake aren't really averaged like it used to be commonly believed. Stick with your score if it's 172-174 range. Harvard admissions are very kind to 3.85/172-174.
