Whatever you can eat when you're not hungry but need to eat. Your nerves will be crazy. I ate a gas station Jack Links beef and cheese snack because they're my guilty pleasure.

anything with sugar is probably best tho

My thinking about the 15 minute break snack is that you want fat, carbs, and protein. I did almond butter on whole wheat, a protein shake, and half of a banana.

Thatsit bar (apple and blueberry) or an apple and dark chocolate peanut butter cups from Trader Joe's.

Also second the fat, carb, protein. You need a little glucose, too. For breakfast, I'm doing my homemade meatballs on a roll or with a twice baked potato for the fat/carb/protein thing.

Not to be a dick or anything, but those are the only three macronutrients...

Maybe you were just trying to be funny, though, and in that case, job well done.

Right, so double is saying you want to consume all three. Not just carbs or just protein or whatever. I don't get what you are confused about. Or perhaps I am misinterpreting both of you.

I thought the same thing. Lol

For what it's worth, it's more complex than "carbs, protein, fat." Protein is the most important aspect and should be given the most weight. When it comes to fats, there are good fats and bad fats. You want omega-3 fatty acids. Other fats won't give you the brain boost you're looking for. This basically means fish. Although, I'd recommend against fish oil supplements, but that's a whole other topic. Carbs are another one that you need to be careful about. There are simple carbs and complex carbs. Simple carbs give you that quick boost, whereas complex carbs give you a prolonged boost. The most common carbs, refined sugars, will make you crash. Whole grains and fruits and veggies are the complex carbs you're looking for. We could even go into which whole grains, but I'm gonna suggest anyone that wants to know just googles it.

As far as drinks, I'd stay away from stuff like Gatorade, just because it contains so much sugar. It gets such a good rep but it's not as amazing as people think. I'd also avoid coffee, because it gives you the same short-term boost as refined sugars, usually.

If someone is asking what food they should eat, I'm going to assume they don't know much about macros or nutrition in general. My point in bringing up fat, protein, and carbs is that you want to get some of each of them, preferably from whole food sources (I've seen people show up to the test with a capri sun and a pack of gushers, probably not the best test food). For someone who doesn't care about the finer points of nutrition, it is a good rule to follow.

I'm going with an almond-y granola bar, a more sugary fruity granola bar, and some strong black tea. I've been amazed at how hungry I get during the test, and how much that caffeine kick seriously helps.

Definitely avoiding sugar and caffeine because it makes me quite anxious. :/
Most green tea contains caffeine. This seems like the most well rounded suggestion mentioned so far though.

I brought almonds, a banana, and one of those canned Starbucks expresso drinks (and water). It worked well for me. I'm pretty sure we weren't allowed to have cans? But the people at my test center could care less.

Ok, friendly reminder. This is a 3.5 hour multiple choice test. Not a marathon or the olympics. If you aren't hungry, you don't need fat or protein or a damn banana. Chill.
