Careless Mistakes Hurting Score

So I've been doing a lot of timed sections lately to get comfortable with the test under timed conditions. I've noticed that most of the questions I miss out on have been due to careless mistakes. Almost half of the last section I did were wrong because I miswrote a LG rule. Yesterday I got -8 because I missed a few keywords or diagrammed a sentence backwards. I've tried to force myself to be more careful with it, but I keep making the same mistakes. Someone told me that it was the time pressure that's causing me to mess up, but it doesn't seem like it's getting better. What can I do to fix this?

Be more thorough. That's about it. The test is intended to cause careless mistakes, and one of the talents an LSAT score evaluates is the ability to avoid making careless mistakes.

Hey,
As far as logic games go I would agree that you just need to slow down. If you are still making mistakes I would begin to really consider whether they are careless mistakes or not.
For LR, I would consider using different strategies to save time. For some people, reading the question first is helpful because you know what to look for. Also, for some people simply circling a question you know is correct and moving on is a good time saving strategy. I know powerscore warns against it, but I personally use this strategy and my score shot up because i was able to take my time with the stimuli with the time saved from reading the answer choices. This is of course only after you are really good at knowing when an answer choice is right or wrong
Also, take a few logic games without a stop watch, but also make sure you keep track of how long it takes you to finish and see how you do. If you're still getting some wrong or if you're taking a really long time (over 8 min) then you probably still need work on fundamentals. Hope this helps!

LegendaryOne-
Here is an awesome technique that would improve your LG score now. It definitely helped me become a better gamer
Read out the logic game rules queitly to yourself. It creates a physical trigger that would help you NOT to misspell the rules.
Hope it helps!

Thanks for the responses. How could one carry these tips over to LR? I feel like I'm careful when I go through an LR section, but end up screwing something up and getting too many incorrect.

Well in untimed tests, I score 168-172. It's just that when I have timing to worry about my mindset changes and I start making mistakes left and right. Would that still be considered a problem with fundamentals?

In my opinion its still an issue of fundamentals. Speed will come with further competency of the material. Slow down and focus on accuracy.
