Diagnostic to Midpoint LSAT score?

I just finished up a my midpoint LSAT score for a course I am taking, and went up only two points. Should I have expected more or to maintain? Just gauging to see if there is an average out there, or what your thoughts are. Thanks!

it's mediocre. 143 jumped to 145
and with Kaplan.

I would expect a bigger jump than that midway thru. In my experience the biggest gains were in the beginning as I was learning the test questions and methods to answer those questions. What course are you taking? You may want to try going through the manhattan books or power score bibles because it doesn't seem the class is helping much.

You need to forget everything you learned from Kaplan and buy the Manhattan books
http://www.amazon.com/Manhattan-Prep-LSAT/e/B0053HGVRQ and also the LSAT Trainer by Mike Kim. Manhattan is the best for LR by a mile. I like their LG the most also, but some like Powerscore better. For RC, the LSAT trainer is my favorite, and it also supplements the other sections well. Use 7sage.com also for help with LG, as it has explanations on every game.
I'd advise you to study all these books and then start drilling the Cambridge bundles, then move on to PTs from there.
Started off at around the same point as you and improved to a 179.

I got the kaplan course ($1,500 value) for free, that's why I chose that option.
Can someone explain why kaplan is not a good course to take?

I'm enrolled in a Kaplan class right now and have a similar story to you. I took a PT recently and made a two point jump. I bought Powerscore LR Bible and Blueprint Logic Games book, and I find that their methods are just 100000x better.
However, I do use the online PT resources from the Kaplan Online Resources for drilling instead of buying the Cambridge packets.

It's not a good course because people only make a 2 point jump after spending $1,500.

Kaplan for free isn't inherently bad. I find that professional classes are good for teaching you the basics and getting you familiar with the test. Once you have this foundational knowledge it's much better, and the gains are much more realizable, when you self study. I wasn't a huge fan of the Manhattan books (although I did read them). I prefer the Bibles and Cambridge packets.

OP isn't even getting the basics from Kaplan, though. This might be a case where a tutor would be useful.

I never took Kaplan, so I can't quite comment on that. My class was Testmasters and I regret spending the money I did on it. I really wouldn't recommend any class to anyone. Maybe a private tutor just because you can work on things that are your problem-areas, but you can do that on your own and here for much, much cheaper.

I took Kaplan's course ($1500) and it was a huge waste of time and money! I actually did worse than my diagnostic
Once I found this forum and bought relevant books, Mike's Trainer, Bibles, Manhattan, I am doing much better...still have a lot to do before my test in October.
