RC Except questions

Anybody got any advice on doing the " passages mentions all of the following statements except which one" questions? I'm constanly getting those wrong.
Reread the relevant part of the passage and cross out answer choices as they are mentioned. The one you don't cross out wasn't mentioned.
Knowing the answer up front without rereading would be ideal of course, but trying to memorize the entire passage on the off chance that they might ask an except question is a waste of time.
