No drop in Dec takers

There was no drop in dec takers this year. Around how many people do you guys think this year's cycle would comprise of? Less than 100k?

It's hard to speculate whether there was really no drop in Dec takers. There was a huge winter storm last Dec test (Dec 2013) which caused a lot of people to postponed till Feb.
Even then, the drops from June and Sept are each down like 8/9%. In addition, according to Spivey consulting, applicants/applications are down 9/11% as of 1/2/15.

Many of the December folks were retakers from September. That test was unexpectedly tricky and people did worse than they had expected to do.

I think a big part of it too is that with the changing admissions game....those who are interested in law school still are finding that taking the December LSAT is not as far behind in the admissions cycle as it used to be in past years.
Overall still less applicants than Fall 2014 admissions cycle, so my 2 cents is that a December take is not as disadvantageous as in the past and with applicants even thinking of taking the Feb LSAT for that same fall's admissions which wouldn't have happened as much in the past

What do you mean upper score bands are way down? Any proof? Wouldn't that also change the percentile of your score?

& no change in percentile. That has to do with scoring and is a separate issue from number and caliber of applicants.

Understood, thank you for the data. I guess one question to ask would be: if individuals who are scoring higher on the LSAT are opting out of law school then ultimately, if you were to attend, the supply of individuals who are more likely to succeed in law, if you of course believe the LSAT is an indicator of your ability to succeed in law, will be down; thus, giving you less competition and more of a chance to succeed if you are one of those individuals who actually scored relatively high.
That is obviously just one thing to think about.
