Untimed Score Worth Anything?

Is there any value to taking an untimed practice test to see where you're at without any time constraints. I took PT 11 (didn't want to waste a more recent test) and took as much time as I needed (ended up taking 43-45 mins per section) and scored 174. I'm PT'in at 165 consistently timed. I want to feel good about the 174 but I kind of feel like it may have been a waste of a PT to do it that way. What do you think?

I think most people would tell you that it would mean you have a solid foundation but just need to get more efficient in your process. For example, getting a 150 on an untimed test DOES tell you a lot, just as a 174 would tell you something.

However, I'd really think about those 6 points you missed.

Not worth much.
The main reason the LSAT is so challenging is because of the time constraints, so taking the tests timed is essential.

You now know your score potential so now work on timing and don't settle for anything lower than 174.

I wouldn't continue taking PTs untimed - that's what drilling is for. But now that you have, it tells you that you need to work on timing. If you are able to choose the correct answer when not under time pressure, you just need to work on improving accuracy and not falling prey to trap/incorrect answers when timed.

Sounds like you are well on your way. See if you are consistent with scoring +170 on 2 more tests. If so, practice the questions that seem to take the most time and find faster ways in solving them.
