Reminder: SOME =/= MANY

I learned this the hard way after getting decimated by PT1S4Q21 and PT4S1Q7. Discussions can be found here for the former:
http://www.manhattanprep.com/lsat/forum ... t1724.html and for the latter:

In the LSAT world,
some = at least one
many = two or more
I SINCERELY HOPE THIS HALPS

It's an interesting definition issue, but honestly, in PT4-1-7, (A) can be eliminated for reasons apart from the word "many". PT1-4-21 is the
only time an answer has relied entirely on the difference.
Keep in mind that we are talking about Preptest
One and
Four. They were administered in June of 1991 and February of 1992 respectively, and the LSAT has never raised the specific distinction between "some" and "many" since.
So, it's a fun thing to know, but ultimately, a very very minor thing that is unlikely to hurt or help you tomorrow.

Yes, true. But I am shooting for a perfect score and I am diligently going over every LSAT ever.
Besides, Im not taking it until February.

Honestly, I don't think this is something to worry about. Going over all the LSAT questions is certainly a good thing to do, and wanting to get a perfect score is great. However, know that the test has changed over the years - PT1 was from 23 years ago! In general, the very early prep tests have some "strange" questions like this. The makers certainly test the differences between "some"/"many" and "most", however they don't really test the nit picky difference in definition between "most" and "some" because they want to make the test overall fair. I highly doubt you will ever see a question that tests "many" vs "some", and any question that has 2 different answer choices involving those can be eliminated or chosen for other reasons as in PT4-S1-Q7.
If you want a perfect score, focus on other quantifiers like "most" vs "some" and how to combine these with "all" statements, there are many questions like that.

I don't mean to brag, but I've already mastered "most" vs "some" statements and how to combine them with "all."
I just don't want any surprises when I take the LSAT, that's why I'm thoroughly going over everything. I have a strong enough grip where I can do this fast enough without sacrificing any time or understanding.
Plus, learning this stuff is fun for me:)

I don't get the people who say: "But but you could have also eliminated that answer choice in other ways!"
Shouldn't you be encouraging more aways of eliminating answers?
I understand that the "some" and "many" distinction may not be tested, but for those of us shooting for 175+, it doesn't hurt.

any recommendations for cementing how to combine "most" vs "some" with "all" or "not some" (and so and so) OTHER THAN drilling and PTs? i know this stuff in my head and can definitely do it, but just wondering if there's some other way? (hope i'm not making no sense

)
