Top Law Schools

Hello all, I'm starting to get my wheels spinning for the December lsat and I'm realizing everyone has a secret tip or trick they think has really benefited them. I would like to go into this test with as many "tools in my belt" as possible so if you don't mind sharing any advice or insight on how you would suggest me approaching this test or even an individual problem I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance! and (P.s. (not taking it is not an option))

Obviously there are thousands on TLS but I thought a compiled thread of them would be nice for everybody, and it seems like your trick is to be a sarcastic ass in a situation where it is unwarranted!

Don't neglect bubbling

Don't be afraid to skip questions that are time sinks.

LR
-Work backwards. My reasoning: when you're on a time crunch, your better off doing easy questions than harder ones. Also, you generally know how much time you will spend on questions #1-10 but #11-25 sometimes have questions that may stump you. This might or might not work for you so test it out first
-Make a mental (or real) note of your "first choice" answer. When you review PTs, look at the ones you got wrong and see if your first answer was the right one. For me, I found that for most of my wrong answers, my intuition was correct. If so, this might be helpful during the real ting

-For me anyway, there will be 1-2 "too easy" questions (usually the latter questions of a game) where it seems very intuitive but if you dig deeper, you realize it's incorrect. For example, they might play off of an assumption that was stated in the previous question which is no longer true for the other questions. Or they might play off an assumption that's unstated, which many people may think is true, but is not really. Usually what I do is if the answer is too easy (besides the first few), I think it over harder.

-this was my weakest section. My advice is keep grinding away.

I got 172+ on the real thing. I got -0 or -1 on LR and LG and the rest in RC so can't really help with that section.

As for bubbling, I never practice bubbling. However, on the real thing, I made every time I bubbled I was consciously checking to make sure it was correct. Be conscious of this, especially if you are skipping questions..

On LR, some of the really tough questions will come down to picking the one that sucks the least. Also, look for words in the prompt that indicate breadth, and then eliminate answers that are too broad/ narrow, depending on the q obviously.

when you encounter conditional statements in real life, try expressing them in logical notion in your head. it is good practice and helps you do it faster during the test.

Example: The other day my friend said "I would never date him unless he shaved his beard"

NotShaved --> NeverDate
Date --> Shaved

LG - Write everything down, test your answers and always confirm. If the game is tough and can't lend itself to a classic diagram (PT 67 G4 for example), then confirm with rules.
LR - 15 in 15 mins.
RC - Read like a normal person and answer the questions. Don't mark and underline everything. Instead, turn your head 45 degrees to the left and confirm with the passage.

For LG, diagram sequencing games the way they do it on 7sage, not the way they do it in powerscore (with < and > and stuff). I cannot tell you how much this helped me.

Spend a disproportionate amount of time studying flawed reasoning questions for LR (most prep courses / book have a big list of common flaws to look for). Essentially 80% of all LR sections boiled down to flawed reasoning (the exception are the must-be-true and must-be-false type questions). The others, like flawed reasoning (of course), necessary condition, sufficient condition, etc. derive from first identifying what is wrong with the logic first. For the latter questions, you take that flaw and find the figure out what fixes it.
