I sat for the September LSAT which was my 3rd take and ended up with a 166. My GPA is 3.12 and I have 2.5 years of WE. I was hoping for big law in the northeast (Boston specifically) but I'm now looking at BC and BU (with my current stats I think these would be the only 2 schools I'd have a chance at being accepted that would be worthwhile) with $ at best and sticker at worst.

My first take a girl got up in the middle of the 2nd section and ran to the door and then collapsed in the middle of the room. Then in the 4th section the fire alarm went off. My second take there was construction going on at the adjacent building so there was jackhammering on and off throughout the test. Third take went ok other than being under my PT average. Now I'm thinking about requesting a 4th take from LSAC Does anyone have any information on the circumstances under which LSAC grants a 4th take?

Did you report any of these issues to LSAC at the time? I think it will be hard for you to ask for a 4th attempt if you never brought those issues up until now.

I emailed LSAC about both incidents. I was offered a the option of cancelling my score with retake in the future for free (the test with the jackhammering would still count as a take) for the 2nd take. Based on what they offered me after my 2nd take I'm not too optimistic about getting an additional take.

Interesting. Do you know if they had documentation from the proctors, or was it just your account? Either way, congrats and make it count.

In both instances the proctor announced that they would make note of the disturbances in a report to LSAC so I didn't really have to do anything with that. I'd recommend writing LSAC if you have some type of disturbance right after the test if you wanted a chance at getting 4 takes in 2 years. I doubt I would have gotten my request approved if there wasn't any formal documentation.

I think with the combination of formal documentation and your unique circumstances a letter is certainly worth while. It is, in a sense, your second legitimate take, being as the other two had such significant disturbances.

The LSAC has that rule in place to restrict people in a very different situation from yourself. I can, of course, only speculate, but I'd imagine you have a good shot and would recommend you go for it.
