I think we need a re-takers thread for December 2014.

Anyone else cares for it?

Its just that the schedule and needs are very different compared to the first time takers.

Still holding out hope I don't have to re-take, but I'm preparing for the worst regardless. I've been drilling LR since there was one section from Sept. that was incredibly difficult for me, I didn't feel 100% confident on what I was choosing as the answer. I'm also a little unsure on my games predormance. I've been drilling LR and I plan to work on timing a lot. I'd like to get to the point where I'm efficient and confident without rushing.

I am good at LR and RC, need to ace LG. Fewer and longer PTs (6 sections, twice a week), couple sections of LR and RC each day, more than 2 hours of LG each day, plus non-LSAT games (I don't care what people say), and repeat drills for LGs with mistakes.

Is it necessary to retake in December if you're applying this year? Or is it possible to enroll in February? I was planning on the latter because fuck taking the LSAT right after finals.

Feb is too late by all accounts.

I say it depends on your September score. If you're retaking for admissions purposes, the. December is probably a better bet. If you're applying solely for scholly negotiation, February should be fine if it means adding a few points to your score.

There is no reason to retake in Decemeber if you aren't able to put in the time to improve your score.
I'll definitely put more time into it again, I just don't want to sign up for the December LSAT or start studying again until I get my score and KNOW if I have to retake or not. So definitely retake in December if I think my score might be too low to get in?

its all a game... if you get your score monday and think its below your potential (especially if its significantly below) retake... like Rigo said Dec would be best for admissions (you want to go to X school but LSAT1 won't get you accepted but LSAT2 might) but if its for school it is fine to do Feb I would think(you want school X, got into school X, but offer 0 w/ LSAT1 but could get $$$ with LSAT2)
however always be prepared to take a year off (which isn't a terrible thing, many people do it and it can help boost your resume(assuming you don't just sit home all year doing nothing))

I am just preparing in case I have to retake. Depends on what my score is, but if its anywhere in the 60s, the temptation to increase my score by 2-4 points may be 2 much to resist.

So, what is everyones' advice on improving on RC? that's the section that can really pay dividends and allow me to elevate my score 5+ points. I was missing 4-6 questions on RC for a majority of the tests(questions wrong due to misunderstanding q stem or just picking the trap answer due to going through questions 2 quickly or getting the 5 minute warning on the last passage and having to guess on 1 or 2 questions) however, on the more recent tests like 72 and 71 I was missing more on the RC sections like 8 or 9 Q's.

I understand the basics but what do you guys suggest for improving on the recent RC? should I just focus on doing timed sections at 38 minutes for now? and practicing moreso on reading for structure and staying focused? or try to practice on getting faster on the reading? or faster at answering questions? or just solely practice the hard rc passages?

My LG and LR sections are pretty good. LG missing 0-2 and LR missing 1-3 and once in a while 4 per section. Total questions wrong for LR are usually between 4 and 8.

The best tip anyone can give you is to listen to JGoods (a.k.a. JBoogie a.k.a. star-crossed puppy-lover), the poster above you. He will unravel the LSAT mysteries for you real good.

Just read more of what he says. Use the 'search user posts' feature. Read it all. It'll be enlightening, I promise. Good luck!

I took the September test, don't think I got the score I want. Im thinking I scored in the mid-165's since I messed up on the LG much more than I normally do. Anyone have a study schedule or method or whatever I that I can use to guide the rest of my studying? Preferably geared towards people aiming for 170+ scores. I took the TestMasters course, and I honestly felt like it was helpful but not worth the money.

I got pretty good at LR's averaging around -2 a section, ranging anywhere from 0-4 each section. LG I normally range from minus 0-3. RC is where i struggle the most... Weirdly enough i used to average -2 or 3, even got -0 on the Oct 11 PT... but from then on I just tanked and never got back... and now average around -6 or -7 going as far as -10... My overall score is around 165-167 and I'm really trying to break 170's consistently.

I took a break from the Sept test until now, so I'm really looking for advice on what to study (esp RC), how to study, and other tips like if y'all think if I have enough time to get ready for the December test. I'm still in my senior year of undergrad so I dont HAVE to take December, but it'd be pretty convenient for me. I really am just looking for consistency and how to make that happen. If any vets can help me out that'd be great! Need that 170+!

I'm a retaker, as well. I took the June test and really shouldn't have. I knew I wasn't completely ready, but wanted to get a score on the books. I got in the 160's, but really need to get in the 170's as my GPA isn't my strongest asset. I was planning on taking the September test, but knew I was missing something as I had plateaued at the 167-168 ranged. Currently I'm taking a Blueprint class to help keep my studying on track and to try to figure out if there were any basics that I had missed during my original studying. I figure worst case it makes me drill specific question types and requires me to be in an LSAT frame of mind 2-3 days a week, best case it improves my score. So far I've been pleased as it has really helped my reading comp scores. Now I just need to get some consistency with my LR scores!

Officially checking in :( But it's ok. Not as high as I had hoped, but I think I can reach my goal, so giving it another try.
