Those who took the test twice and applying to HYS

For those who took the test twice and received a high score, but took it again for whatever reason, did it effect the schools you were accepted to?

Say for example you got a 164 the first time, and you got 174 the second. Did those schools like Harvard, Yale, Stanford, or others in the top 5 accept you despite the first score?

I retook 164-->176 and neither CLS or Chicago seemed to care. Similar retakers seemed to do fine at H my cycle, but I didn't get H due to GPA and some other factors.

NYU doesn't care either, but they're not T5.

Cancel + 167 → 177
Deny by Y, in at HS and everywhere else I applied (and didn't withdraw before receiving decision)
Retake and write a better ps, it's worth it

Only Yale and Berkeley seems to care.

Is this common knowledge for Berkeley? Just never seen it mentioned in forums and they're notorious for black box.

I think they look at high scorers re-taking with suspicion/disdain. I got on their "special preferred waitlist", was ultimately rejected in late summer. Re-applied the following year with a higher LSAT (173 -> 177), got straight out rejected, even though applicant #s were down from the previous year. Still bitter. No other school I applied at seemed to care (I was accepted twice at several top 20's, ultimately went to UVA who accepted me twice)

I retook and had numbers comparable to those in the hypothetical. One was lower. Was accepted or waitlisted everywhere I applied, thanks be to God. Attending HLS.

P.S. Did not write an addendum or mention anything about the LSAT during any interview.

GPA? Any major softs?

Concerned my likely low 170s LSAT will not be enough for HYS or CCN.

Low 70's can be more than enough. But any score in the 70's, or even an 80, is never alone sufficient. (I know people at both medians--or above both 75ths!--who didn't get in to HLS.)

My G.P.A., very high; softs, likely relatively impressive--but no full time work.

Retook and reapplied after first score was too low. attending H. Doesn't matter anymore.
