Hi,

which is better? Drill by questions types or drill with real sections?

I don't necessarily do better on one question type versus others.

So, at least for me, is it better to drill by sections that are inclusive of various question types?

I have been doing un-timed PTs (and thorough review afterwards) from earlier years (like 1996-2000) instead of drilling by questions types. Is this not a good idea?

I would recommend drilling by question types rather than PTs until you have a very firm foundation. Developing the skills is more important, at the early stages, than taking test after test.

Your approach is not terrible, but I do think that the above would be an improvement.

I began studying by drilling by using PTs but finally gave in and purchased the Cambridge packets by type. I think drilling by type helps you figure out a strategy for each type of question and really build your ability do the various types. Plus, you can more easily practice your weaknesses when they are already organized by type.

^How useful are Cambridge books? I have about 150+ questions for each LR question type. Is this comparable to Cambridge? Or do I need to purchase them.

Also, the only reason I made this thread is because when I drill questions by question types and then later on do PTs, I remember doing some of the questions from drilling so I automatically choose the answers from memory without thinking, which doesn't help me to study and improve. Especially with RCs, I clearly remember reading these passages from drilling as I am doing PTs so my score isn't really accurately measured and reflect how I am really doing.

Cambridge has 1-20, 20-40 and 41-50. You an drill with earlier tests. I think I might pick up 21-40 and drill with those and then use tests 41 and on for dong sections to improve accuracy and speed and full practice tests. If it's better to get 1-40 someone please let me know.
