Taking the LSAT beginning of Junior year.

I have just recently had the idea of taking the LSAT on Sep 29 of this year, as a junior.
All I have going on this summer is working part-time with loads of free time, which I most likely won't have again until after undergrad. If I start studying when I get back from vacation I can have about 2.5 months of very solid study time. I was also thinking this might be optimal because this way I can focus on my school work and applications for the rest of undergrad instead of studying/worrying about the LSAT as well. I will also be able to apply to schools very early since I will already have my score back a year before I'm applying.
Is it odd for someone to take the Sept LSAT their junior year? Do you think I am just being silly?
I am a long time lurker, first time poster. I really appreciate all the advice that goes on around here and I hope someone has some for me.
