Regression on the LR?

Last summer, I took a prep class which really helped with the games but not the other sections. I am confident I can learn to do RC at some point in time but LR always gave me problems. After last summer I decided to take a break from studying for almost a year (life got in the way) and told myself I would study the LR section extensively. If I learned to do well on it then I would take the test but if not then I would do something else with my life. This summer I went through the PowerScore Bible, started kicking butt on the questions within the book, and took some time practice sessions. At one point, I earned a -7 on a section. Since that point, I feel like I am regressing and I am not sure why? In fact, I just made a -18 on a section. I am starting to think the LR section constitutes a cruel joke being played on me by some sort of powerful LSAT being.

Honestly, I don't let the LSAT get me down anymore and understand it's a giant game. With that said, however, I do want to go to law school and it would be so much easier if I could figure out this section. Maybe I burned myself out? I really hope so but I fear that I regressed and, honestly, that's worse than no ever doing well on it. Obviously my definition of "well" differs greatly from other people on here; didn't want to be accused of using a double meaning of the word! Seriously though, I would appreciate any advice about this.

It's all psychological, man.

Just clear your head and take it all one question at a time and try not to think about things. But, then again, I just bombed the LSAT so maybe that isn't the right advice. I dunno... that's my strategy for September. You know the material so it's not winging it...

I think the Jeff Van Gundy quote about the NBA applies to the LSAT as well "it's a make or miss league."

I went through every LR question from pt 1-60 three times each. You may just need more practice. Going through Manhattan LR book helped too.

Clyde, are you consistently -0/1 in LR? Just curious, considering how much work you've put in.

Yeah. Going into the lsat I could count on missing at most one question from both LRs and LGs combined, with RC widely ranging from -1 to -6, and scored a 179 on the real thing with -0 on LR. LR is a completely learnable section just like LGs IMO. Go through the questions slowly at first and really practice on your form (identifying the gap in assumption questions, ect.) and prephrase your answer for every question. If you need help on anything specific shoot me a PM.
