Old LG

I've been prepping for a few months and LG is my weakest section. I started with getting only 6 right per section and now I get btw. 17-20 right per section. It's a huge improvement. However, that improvement seems to only manifest on recent LG sections. I attempted to do some LG sections from earlier preptest (1-10) and completely bombed. Basically, should I be concerned? If I can't do the earlier prep-test LG sections with the same acuracy as I do the most recent ones, can I really say I understand LG? Any input would be greatly appreciated and I appologize in advance if this has been discussed elsewhere.

I wouldn't be terribly worried since you're getting good marks, but neither would I ignore the old games. It's great that you've learned to break down the new games- keep working on that. However, every once in a while a new game format shows up on a test and then you have to figure out an approach on the fly. This is where the old games can come in handy. Not only should you figure out how they work, you should also be looking at how you approach a problem you've never seen before.

It's interesting that you're noticing such a difference between newer and older games. Newer games are more "standardized" in that you're more likely to see familiar rule formats and so forth, but even with the older games feeling a little funkier, I wouldn't necessarily expect to see such a big difference in your performance on newer vs. older games. I'd try to figure out what it is about the older games that's throwing you off and then focus on fixing that. To answer your question, it shouldn't be a huge cause for concern that you're not doing as well on the older games, but it does suggest that if you are able to fix that problem you'll be more prepared for whatever is thrown at you on game day.

Definitely work on the older games also. The LSAC is bringing back the funk.

Yes, this appears to be true.
Also, I have to share this youtube your post reminded me of with 'bringing back the funk', it's super funny. (warning, not about the LSAT and it includes discussion of some 'adult' types of activities)

Thanks everyone for your input. As you say, LSAT is bringing back the funk and I want to be prepared for that come September. I think I'll figure out what types of older games cause the most trouble and go from there. Hopefully that will allow me to start figuring things out a little more.
