URM Harvard/Yale

Hi all! I just joined TLS the other day. Today is actually my birthday so hopefully that means I'll have a fairly decent response to this question... I was wondering specifically if you guys could tell me what score on the LSAT should I shoot for if I hope to get into Harvard specifically. I've seen all the other forums simi-related to this topic, but I have not seen one specifically addressing Harvard only. I am an African American male from an HBCU, and I have maintained a GPA of 3.8(Poli Sci/History). I'm thinking 165 or higher is the number to shoot for.
Also, I was wondering why there is such a disparity between the number of minorities that attend Yale and those that attend Harvard? Is it simply because Harvard encourages/accepts more minority applicants to attend their law school, and does anyone see Yale accepting more minorities, or Harvard accepting less in the future? Any thoughts or comments would be helpful thanks.

Yale's entering class is around 200 each year and Harvard's entering class is around 500.
They both take in around 40% of people with color.

165+ will give you a solid shot at HYS with that GPA.
That 40% ppl of color stat that ClydeFrog cited includes ppl who don't get the URM boost, such as Asian-Americans.

You should shoot for high 170s, regardless if you get a boost.

Mhmm. Also, apply early.

My goal is certainly higher than 165. At a certain point, I have to be realistic as well.

I would like to score a 180, but I have to cover all my bases. I don't want to leave anything up to chance.

Nah.
He's pretty much a lock even with 165:
170 looks worse only because there are fewer of them:
But yeah, OP, don't "shoot" for anything less than 180.

Yeah I'm pretty confident in saying that an AA male with a 3.8 from an HBCU and a 170+ is a lock at H and S and will most likely get into Y.

Lol at a AA Male with a 3.8 GPA "needing" a 170 LSAT to get into Harvard. The only school where an AA male with a GPA that high "needs" a 170 is Yale (and even then it's more complicated than that).
A 165 will basically get you into Harvard and any of the top 14 outside of Y and S. To be honest once you get above a 165 your softs are going to matter more than anything else.

Yeah he doesn't need a 170, the 170 simply removes all doubt. Hell, the 165 probably does too.
OP, shoot for the stars. Literally every point you get above 165 is more and more cash that's going to be thrown your way by schools outside of HYS.

Two things. 1) H's class size allows them to be more forgiving stats wise. 2) Y's just difficult to get into even when you do have the numbers.

My underwhelming cycle can probably be largely attributed to applying realllly late. Maybe my PS wasn't all that compelling. But I have no C&F issues, or anything. So, yeah--apply early.

I have a friend who is a URM and applied last admission cycle, with a GPA of 3.8 and an LSAT score of 166. He was wait-listed at Harvard, got into Stanford. Clearly this is just an isolated example, but it can't hurt to aim higher than a 165.

If you wan't money you're prob. going to need low 170's, your first question is a little tougher seeing as how ur major is biology. I imagine you prob. have a fair chance in the mid to upper 160's as well. But it might need to be a little higher.

I do not get these questions.
Is there a method of studying for LSAT for exactly X score? Just study for the exam in the way that fits you, "be your best self" (heh) on exam day and kill the exam.

I interpret these questions not as how much do I study to get xyz score, but more like what score is the bare minimum I should settle for. In this case I would say its 165. As in don't take the LSAT until you are hitting 165+ on your PTs and if you get below 165 then consider retaking.
