Here is a list of the errors in the 1.3 version of The LSAT Trainer, which is the version that most of you are currently studying with. You can check which version you have by taking a look at the copyright page. The 1.3 version will have the line "17 16 15 14 13 3 4 5." I will fix these issues shortly and release a 1.4 version, and will edit this message when I do so.

*** EDIT: VERSION 1.4 RELEASED 6/17/14. ***

The trainer has approximately 300,000 words in it, the equivalent of a typical study guide twice its size. Editing and proofing it is an enormous task. The members of tls have been amazingly helpful, especially when it comes to the types of subtle and complex reasoning and wording issues that professional proofreaders (who aren't studying for the LSAT) might miss. Thank you, thank you, thank you --

Substantive Issues
P. 164 - Solution to 4th drill - 2nd dish can have 2 ingredients
P. 181 - Second scenario, final q - the contrapositive should be "If P not before Q, N not before M" (to account for fact they might not get selected).
P. 201 - 2nd rule for game 4 should read "J and I as a pair will either be teamed with F or with G."
P. 206 - Table of Common Notations - "F is at least 2 spots ahead of G" should have one less line
P. 215 - Image for Professor solutions - On the second of the ordering trees, the R should be hanging to right of T, not W.
P. 389 - Q 2 - Diagram missing L in 5th slot
P. 461 - Lumber Yard drill - need to mention that no other type of wood is sold.
P. 461 - Oldie's Diner - needs to be written so that it's clear customer has option of free fries or free soda
P. 512 - final paragraph of passage had a clause omitted -- should read "His stylistic innovations startled his contemporaries—and still retain that power over modern viewers— but most art historians have decided that Delacroix adjusted himself to new social conditions that were already coming into being as a result of political upheavals"

Minor typos etc.
P. 17 - Last sentence of second to last paragraph - should say $1000 instead of $10000.
P. 78 - Second sentence of first paragraph - should say "came up with"
P. 74/76/81 - should say "than my other shirts"
P. 91/94 Explanation for #1 should be clarified to focus on necessary vs sufficient per word "simply"
P. 122 - End of 4th paragraph - should say "meant to be support."
P. 131 - Solution to 28.3.20, the decision, last sentence of first paragraph - should end "was" not "is was."
P. 156 - last rule can be notated _2 - R2
P. 242 - solution for 2.17, step 6 - "tempted" should be "tempting"
P. 260 - 3rd paragraph in header - 3rd line -- "you wouldn't be able to make the arguments..." missing the to.
P. 271 - 2nd example - final paragraph - should say "she consumes" not "I consume"
P. 273- 2nd problem - find the support should be bolded
P. 330 - middle of 4th paragraph - "know what you don't know" missing the you.
P. 335 - Lines mentioned in Q 26 not marked in passage
P. 346 - 1st P of explanation for #7 - should say "fourth" paragraph, not third
P. 372 - 5th paragraph - uncertainly should be uncertainty
P. 391 - "same effect" heading - should say "common" not "not common"
P. 395/397 - Q 6 - Stem should discuss shifts, not order played.
P. 396 - Solution to #1 should say "The last (D)" not "The last (E)"
P. 397 - Solution for #6, 3rd line - should say "P and H work different shifts"
P. 432 - explanation for 16, 3rd paragraph - should say "F or R" not "F or N"
P. 465. 4th p of read the stimulus - "tricky working" should be "tricky wording."
P. 479/480 - 31.3.19 (E) should say "to fulfill" not "of fulfill"
P. 492 - 1st p - "Explain a Discrepancy require" instead of requires
P. 494 - 2nd p - "understand" should be "understanding"
P. 517. - explanation for #26 - "exact opposite" a bit too strong
P. 524 - middle of paragraph 2 - "before of after" should be "before or after"
Online Study Schedules --
Drill 2: Should not include 53.3.11 and 53.3.20. Those are supposed to b a part of Drill 3, and already included there.
4 Week Schedule -- Last page should say week 4, not 7 and 8.

If you are studying with the trainer and happen to spot anything else, please let me know here, through pm, or by emailing me at mike@thelsattrainer.com.

Not an error at all but something you may want to note. For the last game solved on p. 154, I think you overlook a key deduction. T must be the jack rabbit.

From rule 1 - cant be hamster or frog

Combing rule 1 and 2 - can't be the iguana because can't be on the ends

Rule 4 - can't be guinea pig

*****
Also, For the first game solved on pg. 158, the I sticker must go with the H poster.

******

Dishes game on 163 (example before the drill). 4 can have at most 2 ingredients.

Pg. 178. First paragraph. Sentence starting with "with the second compound conditional..." I think you meant "we don't need to know something about H and G." There is no F in the second compound conditional.

I was wondering when the updated edition of the LSAT trainer with the corrections will be published?

Hi Heidi --

I plan to release it right around the june test date --

amazon takes the book off the market for anywhere from 8 - 48 hours when I submit a revised version, and there are a ton of june test takers picking up the book right now, and obviously they all want to get their copies as soon as possible --

I'll post here when an updated version is released, and if you want I can pm you as well--

Mike,

I just bought the LSAT Trainer a couple of days ago. Should I return and wait for the revised version? I'm planning to write the September 2014 test. Thanks

That's up to you, but I personally wouldn't --

I definitely understand the desire to get the cleanest and best version of something (especially something you just bought) but I think the relatively few and minor issues mentioned above don't warrant a pause in your studying -- it reminds me a bit of the proverb "using a hatchet to remove a fly from a friend's forehead" --

I hope that doesn't sound too flippant -- I hate having any errors in the book and I apologize for them -- and please know that my opinion would be different if the book contained more significant issues, such as incorrect answers to LSAT problems, or incorrect thought processes, but it doesn't -- I think you'll see that the vast majority of points noted above involve typos, simple oversights, or situation-specific wording ambiguities.

So, if I were you, I'd just note the substantive issues listed above in your current version and keep using it --

HTH - best of luck and please get in touch if you need me -- Mike

Pg. 396 of version 1.3 - For the two frames, you do not place the inference about L in the diagram (but place the inference about G). In the first frame, L has to be in shift 2. It can't be in shift 1 because N would have to be in 2, but N is in 1.

P. 404 q. 8. Explanation can use some tweaking. All 3 elements can in fact go in Thursday and you still end up with a maximum of 6.

I may have found an error in version 1.4 (purchased on Amazon about a week ago)
Page 185, LG drills set two - the scenario involving a group on medical specialists
Question 1 has two solutions A and D.

Please correct me if I'm doing this incorrectly!
I got to the point where I knew that N and T had to be selected, and O and J could not be selected. There have to be 5 people total selected, so three of the remaining four (L, M, R, S) need to be selected. L must be selected because if it is not then R cannot be selected and you cannot have a team of 5.
