Can't finish an RC section w/o smoking on my e-cig

I get like 2/3 through that bitch and I wanna smoke my e-cig. I feel like I should care more about doing this since it's probably not good, but I am finding myself just not caring. Any advice?

If the nicotine craving is that bad, why not try wearing a patch to see if you can substitute it with the e-cig on the lsat.

I just wonder what effect this has on the legitimacy of my scores. I get like -1 to -3 per RC section but I always take breaks cause I wanna smoke and/or look up my answers cause I'm just like that I guess. I pause the clock too so I'm not cheating.

Probably not the worst idea. I think it may be more of just the process of getting out of my chair and doing something. And when I have nothing to do I smoke on my e-cig. But maybe you're right, I'd prefer the gum though. Can I chew gum during the actual test?

Oh, you're cheating, alright. Endurance is part of the deal. If we were allowed to pause the clock (whether or not it's for a drag) every few minutes, some of us would score much higher.

Yeah, unless you chew really loud and someone complains about you. Should be good to go, just don't blow bubbles and shit.

I actually did this during my prep and found out the scores were lower when I paused the time. When you stop to check answers you essentially lose your focus and have to get refocused after checking your answers. It's like calling a timeout in basketball when the other team starts to get hot.

Man up and exercise some impulse control if you really care about getting in proper shape for test day.

Your PT scores are NOT legit if you've been taking breaks and/or deviating from strict test day timing conditions in any way.

Seriously, if you believe that you are currently in the mid/high 160s or higher score range based on results from timed practice that has involved little breaks, toking on an e-cig occasionally during the test/sections, not doing sections back to back with zero breaks except 15 mins b/w 3 & 4, not doing each section straight through exactly 35 mins without ever pausing the timer, etc., then you are bull$hitting yourself about your true test day score range ability level.

If you don't take timed PTs honestly under strict test day conditions for score range evaluation purposes, be prepared for a BIG nasty surprise when scores are released. Spend a little time using the search function to find and read threads with people complaining about having scored significantly below their PT range on test day (often to the tune of 8-12 points LOWER than PT avg). There are literally thousands of people from the past several years that have posted about seriously under-performing on test day compared to PT scores. One of the most common situations is that they didn't actually under perform, but instead had a false belief about their true ability range due to artificially inflated PT scores taken under less than honest test day conditions. Learn from those peoples mistakes so we don't have to read a "OMG WTF happened?!! underperformed" thread from you in late June.

Mhmm. Either way, it's hard to imagine your results under these conditions would be representative of your overall ability.

TCR is to cut it out, imo.

Thanks Jeffort. But let me clarify to you that I did take the one test I took under timed conditions without multiple breaks. I'm not saying I can't do it, I just often get lazy and don't want to. But I will heed your advice.

And I'm a September test taker. Phew.

100% agree. Pausing, for me at least, lets me clear my head and refocus.

In any event, you wont get to do it on test day, so don't incorporate it into your routine.

lol dude..pausing the clock is SOOO cheating. good luck man...what I did was i took a good two weeks and went cold turkey. i basically quit smoking for the lsat cuz the first time i took it...i was a smoker and the craving got to me. honestly ecigs are bullshit..just go cold turkey. I did ecigs too but it still nurtures that dependency on nicotine. good luck.

amen on this...the first time i took lsat it was some bullshit way. god im embarrassed, shit like if i heard a loud noise, id add like 30 seconds, or pause the clock, and then come back. lets just say my first score was absolute shit in which id be be attending TTT on sticker. thank god i retook, and studied the right way the second time.
