Approx 4 years ago I took a diag and scored 145.

3 tests later 159-162-170, I have achieved an official score of 170.

I have much appreciation for TLS for my success, but TLS was a source of my pains (there is quite few misconceptions around here: i.e., everyone can get 170 if they self-study with Manhattan or whatever flavor of the month guide).

I would like to pay my debts if possible, in writing a guide, of my journey/experiences.

The guide will focus less on specific techniques but more on psychological states one might experience during their studying

If anyone wants any "SPECIFIC" question answered, I will try to incorporate it as well

In any case, If I were to undertake this effort, I would hope there would be people interested in reading it.

If this thread reaches 2 pages of people saying they want to read it, I will start my writing in approximately a week, and hope to finish in a week or so. I will continuously monitor that thread and update it with new questions/answers.

I would be very interested to read about your psychological journey.

I think a motivational guide would be interesting, especially given the amount of time you put in. The guides on here are great for people who PT 155+ from the beginning, but most people don't do that. Your guide would hopefully be a good addition.

I think this would be really valuable for those who begin with a very low diagnostic. I'm not sure we have such a guide, and it would be nice to point the "TOOK ONE PT AM I DOOMED?????" crowd towards a guide catered to their level.

This is more of a general question, but what were your weak spots (ie LG, LR, RC) throughout the different stages of your prep, and what did you do to overcome those roadblocks?

When you got your 159, did you study any differently or change your study habits at all to ultimately get a 170? Or was it just a matter of intensive practice and review?

Right, these are the general questions I will definitely cover. There are quite few things I changed around. Unfortunately I cant say much more without typing the entire story, which I dont have time for, but I will so in a week.

I make sure to read all of the guides here, even though there's a lot of overlap, b/c you never know when a tidibt will jump out as helpful. I scored a 168 on my first try, without practice testing (I just drilled the individual sections), but I got HAMMERED on LG. I think that's a common problem among first-time testers. I'll read every piece I can between now and June retake.

Since you officially sat for the exam 3 times, I would be curious to know what you were PTing when you got the 159, and 162. It seems to me like you were shooting for a 170+ (hence why you took it so many times to improve your score). I'm wondering if it was test anxiety that resulted in the 159 and 162 or if that's what you were PTing at the time (if so, why did you even sit for it officially if you were PTing significantly less than your goal score?).

Please write this. Honest personal stories about the trials and tribulations of a successful LSAT prep journey are pretty rare.

The false impressions you alluded to that people can get from reading the forum are partly because success stories typically just highlight the good stuff and fail to mention/really address all the discouraging obstacles you have to overcome every step of the way through the process to ultimately succeed in significantly improving from a low starting score.

I suggest you write it more as a personal story about your journey, experiences, obstacles you faced, how you overcame them, etc. rather than a 'guide' per se so you don't wander too deeply into the dangerous realm of trying to generalize LSAT prep advice into one size fits all recommendations and/or making general causal assertions people might mistake as sufficient conditions for getting a high score.

I think it would be a mix of personal stories and the lesson I learnt from it so it is more "general/applicable" to others.

I know I would read it if you did! Are you going to do this as self-published PDF? I say go for it, those are a hit right now.

I would release as just a plain txt on TLS first, if there is a big crowd, alot of positive feedback, ill package it as a pdf and make it nicely formatted and such.
