Could retaking in February help for this admissions cycle?

Long story short: I significantly underperformed when I took the LSAT last weekend due to being terribly sick. I basically have to apply this cycle. I am confident I could do considerably better if I retook in February. Could this help get me into schools where I will inevitably be waitlisted?

It could, but I doubt that you "absolutely have to apply this cycle." Waiting a year sounds like it could do wonders for your law school future.

A higher score from a February test can help your admission chances for applications that are still pending decision after Feb scores are released and for getting off a waiting list.

For any of you worried about applying for Fall 2014 with a February score, Harvard law just emailed me and explained they will be extending their application deadline because of so many issues with Decembers cancellation/rescheduling due to weather. Here is the link as well

Hopefully, many other schools will proceed to do the same.
