Cancel?

Bombed the games in the December LSAT. It was my first section, nervous, and I've always sucked at games for some reason and I haven't been able to improve. Basically, I guessed on like half the section. I think I did good on the LR, cautiously optimistic about the RC.

Here's the thing: I need a 170 if I want to go to a good law school, because my undergrad GPA was absolutely terrible. I've been PTing in the 170 range, but I don't think there's any way I got a 170 with how horrible I did on the games section.

At the same time, I really don't want to sit out this cycle. Is February 2014 too late for admission next year? Fuck this is depressing. Why oh why couldn't that section have been experimental ...

What was your experimental section? I had LG-LR-LG-RC-LR and I can't figure out for the life of me what LG section was the experimental one.

As for your question, I canceled my Oct test and regret it. All of the schools I'm applying to take the highest score and a cancel burns one of your three shots anyway, so I'm of the opinion that you might as well see how it comes out.

The first section LG ripped me a new one. I couldn't even think..I guessed on the last game. But F it, I'm gonna see how I did, schools mostly average anyway

Similar situation! Haven't ever PT'd less than 170, and was hoping for around 175. Somehow totally misjudged my time, and had to guess the last six RC questions! It was my last section, and I felt the others had gone average to well, so it's really really depressing.

If my score is low, is there anything to be said for applying anyway and then updating my score once I've sat the February test? I'm URM, so I could at least be a waitlist candidate with a lower score than 170.

If this is your first time taking the LSAT, you might want to see what your score is. I thought I bombed the LSAT the first time I took it (there was a weird LG question and I ended up completely screwing up LG, which was always by best section), came close to canceling and was very happy that I didn't. If you didn't get the score you wanted, you can always retake. Since most schools don't average LSAT scores (you should verify this with the individual schools you want to apply to), not canceling probably won't hurt you.

Since law schools use rolling admissions, applying earlier is always better. You can update your scores if you decide to retake.
