Looks like the downward trend is here to stay. Surprised that the LSAC page the blog links to doesn't report the data in the post (http://lsac.org/lsacresources/data/lsats-administered); I wonder what the source is.

I think the schools in the lower T14 have definitely already showed signs of a lowering quality applicant pool. It seems to be actually forcing schools to really embody the 'holistic approach' that they boast about. So, definitely good news :)!

I think I noticed some 164s and 165s getting Cornell already. Is that unusual though?

The source is sound. They distribute the data to prelaw advisors and law school folks first. I think that's where they must have gotten it.

ETA: Also, I can't recall where I posted it, but a recent study showed that the % of sub 150 scorers is declining at a much lower rate than 160+ scorers. The 160+ is really becoming scarce, in both absolute and relative terms. Eat your synchro, kids.

Or it's forcing schools to sacrifice the holistic approach in order to keep their medians. That seemed to be what this blog post by the same author is suggesting: --LinkRemoved--

Assuming the retakes don't play a role, 3.63 172 seems better than 50/50 to me, near the GPA median and above LSAT.

i basically feel like my cycle will tell the world whether retakes really do trump lower scores -- completely or not.
Haha I hear ya. I'm a 3 time taker as well. You writing an addendum?

Well I don't think they'd send one to someone with uncompetitive numbers. Not sure how much you can read into it though.

People with around my numbers have only even gotten in about a quarter of the time the past few cycles and I got one.

Here's the document for anyone who wants it: http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/ ... s/lsat.pdf

Interesting part in the comments of http://www.thefacultylounge.org/2013/10 ... l#comments

"The Dean of Wash U Law School, Kent Syverud, gave a very compelling speech. He says 175 of 202 law schools are operating at a substantial deficit, and the pain is being felt across the board, not just at so-called "marginal" law schools. Applicant numbers, by LSAT score, support that comment. "
