The number of October 2013 LSATs administered was 33,673, down 10.9% from October 2012 and down about 45% from the October 2009 LSATs administered.

Looks like the downward trend is here to stay. Surprised that the LSAC page the blog links to doesn't report the data in the post (http://lsac.org/lsacresources/data/lsats-administered); I wonder what the source is.

I think the schools in the lower T14 have definitely already showed signs of a lowering quality applicant pool. It seems to be actually forcing schools to really embody the 'holistic approach' that they boast about. So, definitely good news !

I think I noticed some 164s and 165s getting Cornell already. Is that unusual though?

The source is sound. They distribute the data to prelaw advisors and law school folks first. I think that's where they must have gotten it.

ETA: Also, I can't recall where I posted it, but a recent study showed that the % of sub 150 scorers is declining at a much lower rate than 160+ scorers. The 160+ is really becoming scarce, in both absolute and relative terms. Eat your synchro, kids.

i basically feel like my cycle will tell the world whether retakes really do trump lower scores -- completely or not.

Well I don't think they'd send one to someone with uncompetitive numbers. Not sure how much you can read into it though.

People with around my numbers have only even gotten in about a quarter of the time the past few cycles and I got one.
