Is it worth retaking for a couple points?

I took the LSAT in october, I was PTing 173+ but I doubt I'll get more than 169 on the actual test. I didn't do my best, I was very very nervous and I know I made some stupid mistakes.
I'm a splitter, so I think it would mean a lot if I can get above a 170, but I keep reading that retaking unless you had a significant drop from your PTs is useless. I KNOW I didn't do my best, if I had I wouldn't be worrying about it. So my question is, is it worth retaking in December, even if it might just be 2-3 points higher than october?

Absolutely. 169 = below all CCN medians. 171 = At or above all but Harvard and Yale's medians.

Unless you're well above every school you're applying to's 75th percentile, yes. Even then it's debatable.

The only way the answer is no to this question is if you were retaking a 174+ to get to a 177 or something crazy like that.

Which could still be worth it in certain situations.
Also, OP, yes.

Is an extra 5 hours of your day worth possibly 50,000 in scholarship money? Is $10,000/hour worth it?
Yes.

If you got a 170-172, then conventional wisdom is that it's not really worth it unless you're confident (read: guaranteed) that you'll get 3-4 more points.
Anything lower than a 170? You should retake.

Forget a couple points. ONE point at that range makes it worth it.
I studied thousands of hours for June. Only went up one point, incredibly. While I retook it, even if I don't improve this time the one point would have been worth it. The high 160's means each point literally opens up new schools and new scholarships.

Thousands of hours? Exaggeration?
