Is 2 months enough time to go from 161 to 170+?

I have been prepping on and off for the lsat for the last year. I have take a lot of old PTs, although honestly the last time I took one was several months ago. The best I've ever done, untimed, was a 167. Best timed was a 164. I am planning on taking a Powerscore full class from Oct. 14th to Dec. 5th and taking the December exam. If I do the work, should this be enough time to bump to a 170+ score? I know some of you say 20 hours a week for 3-4 months...what about 20+ for 2? Is that not enough from where I am right now?

Its hard to say. If you've been studying for a year, I think your chances are slim. With that being said, never give up. You can do almost anything you set your mind to. Good luck.

Yeah, really hard to tell. What is the 161 number (title) from?

You prob know this, but strong consensus on here is that "do the work" means a lot more than whatever the prep class tells you to do. You have 3 months til December, not just 2, I wouldn't wait another month to start. Good luck!

I use that term loosely. I've taken a lot of old tests, probably about 10-12, last summer and did a little bit of reading from the LG Bible. I haven't sat down and done LSAT work since February. On those 10-12 tests, timed, I scored generally 162-163 so I'm saying 161 as a safe average. My question is if the course will be beneficial enough, plus all the extra homework they provide, to push me over the top.

Usually not. Remember that your goal of 170+ means you want to be scoring in the top 2 percentile or so.. it usually requires extra work.

There's no specific amount of time to go from one score to another. It doesn't work that way. If you fix what you're doing wrong, you could go to a 170+ tomorrow. If you don't fix what you're doing wrong, you could stay at a 164-167 forever.

^ This is a very good answer.
