Has anyone seen any statistics on how many folks take LSAT courses like TestMasters versus buying books? Or who takes TestMasters versus PowerScore versus Kaplan, etc? I know the LSAT answer sheet asks folks how they prepared for the test - has anyone seen the results of that survey published anywhere?

The only LSAC report I can find on the LSAT breaks down scores by race and geography.

I know this is kind of random; thanks for your help.

LSAC does publish this information. They ask the question in the form of multiple choice (where you can select multiple options).

I actually looked at all the LSAC reports on this topic recently and found that % reporting self-study as a prep method climbed from 37.7% in 1991-92 to 51.3% in 2010-11. (The climb is fairly steady and gradual.)

The % reporting prep courses as a prep method was 33.3% in 1991-92. It fell to a low of 31.1% in 2000-1, then climbed to a high of 38.6% in 2006-7. It has steadily fallen back down to 33.8% in 2010-11.
