starting to study for lsat?

Hello, I just finished my first year of college.
Planning oon taking lsat 2 years from now (june 2015)
so the quarter before the test i will take an absence from school.
1. Is this a good idea?
2. Am I starting too early to study ( i only plan to do a few hours each week this summer, get my feet wet)?
3. What is a good introductory book?
Now to clarify for number 3, I have done my research and have used the search function on this site (I like to search before I ask a question), but I am not sure. Some people say testmasters but isnt that course only? others say powerscore, but all of the books are seperate and I am looking for a one in all for now.
thanks for answers!
