How can I improve this? I am such a bad reader. I burned through every preptest, but I just never got the hang of reading.

What are your ptest scores for RC?

What's the problem? Speed, comprehension, both?

How did you prepare? It's not enough to just take your ptest run-through as real effort in your weak area. You need to work passages for accuracy, then worry about speed. You'll have to redo them all, or most of them. Spend extra time analyzing the sorts of questions they ask and how to solve them, how they play off the evidence in the passage.

Have you done the MLSAT RC book?

yeah i've done all the manhattan books. I have problem just understanding the passages. I would read the passage and then be like wtf did I just read?

How long does it take you to read through each passage? how much time are you spending on the questions?

You should be stopping after each paragraph (or, if there's a shift in the paragraph, stop at that point) to "sum up" what you just read and tag that part of the passage with it's role/topic. You shouldn't be able to hit the end of the passage without knowing what you've read because you should be evaluating each section of it as you go!

This. Doing so will allow you to trace the essential components you'll likely be asked about in the questions. You should be able to ID author's attitude/ other pov evidence, and you should be able to understand the argument structure. You read mlsat rc, but you clearly don't heed it's suggestions. Stop copping out.

Edit: Good LG score though.

it seems to me that simply improving your reading skills in general would be a good way to improve on the RC (and LR) sections. find something substantive that you'd enjoy learning more about and read a few books on the subject.
