Top Law Schools

I got my score yesterday...am debating if I should retake.

So I graduated from UCLA with GPA 3.42 in Economics, minor in philosophy. I was told my softs are not very strong. But here they are: job in a law firm and recommendation letters from lawyers; I am from China and speak fluent Chinese.

My score is 167, 94 percentile.

I am hoping to get 170 in October. It is possible but so far I have not been good at RC which is my main problem here.

I am not even thinking about T14 with my poor GPA...just want a higher chance in schools like U of Maryland and maybe Fordham, etc.

Of course, that means I need to put aside the whole application process and focus on LSAT...again. Is it worth it??

If you can notch up 3-5 more points, you're looking good at NYU on down.

I know its hard to get back in the "lsat mode" but you owe it to yourself to do it. From where you are now, if you can tighten up your game and earn a 173, you look good at NYU. You will have offers from all over the T14 with anything over 170. Take it from me, a retake made it possible for me to go T14 despite a terrible GPA. I don't mind studying again. But I also don't want to delay the application process. Would I be better off applying in September/October with 3.4/167 or applying in November with 3.4/?? I think this is the question...

Apply to the schools you are in for in september so you have your backups set... Then send out apps to the new matches/reaches after october LSAT...

I actually just calculated my average on previous PTs. It's 164 so I am in fact getting a higher than average score on my June exam. Does that mean I am simply lucky this time?

That scares me a bit...

Are you including your earlier, bad LSAT scores, or is 164 around the average of your more recent PTs as well?

If I include previous exams it would be 163.5...most recent ones average at 164...

Your softs sound fine. If you could improve your LSAT that would be great, but don't take the test if you aren't scoring above a 167 before the test. Also, that LSAT will give you a shot at NU, Cornell, and Georgetown probably.

you might be able to get lower T-14 with that score, but you should still retake.
