How to handle annoying situations during your studies?

How do you handle these "packs" or women or men in the library who come to chat and gossip. Today I was on a pretty good run of LG with average of -0 on every game. Soon as these three guys show up in front of my study area, my concentration goes off, and I get a -3 on a simple ordering game! I hate these people who are talking on their phone, cracking jokes, and just simply do not know that a library should be silent.

I tried moving several times and the same thing kept happening.

How do you handle this?

The test room could be full of distractions. Pick a better place for now, but be sure that you should learn to refocus yourself when distractions come your way.

This. Get used to distractions. Those people coming in and distracting you are training you for test day when someone is going to randomly freak out, or a mass of people won't stop sniffling and/or coughing, or your proctor won't stop crinkling the newspaper and popping bubblegum, or a phone goes off. Better to learn to deal with distractions now than on test day.

I agree - this is excellent practice for the distractions that will take place when you take the LSAT for real. Consider it part of your practice - you need to work on getting back into the zone once distracted.

For example, in my LSAT, a bunch of cleaners came into the back of the room, talking loudly, before they realized that the room was occupied. You can't let this stuff throw you. If it does, you need to practice having distractions, and work on being able to settle back down and get back into the test.

It can sometimes help if you set a formal ritual for getting back in the zone. For example, stretch your neck, roll your shoulders, breathe in and exhale, then get back to it.

I go to the loudest library to study. It help me practice to block out the distractions. At first it wasn't going to well. I was sitting next to some guy talking about his first Viagra experience while I was taking a timed PT. All I'm saying is once you get use to it, almost nothing can distract you.
