depends on the score you want. take the test only when you feel that you are adequately prepared.

Depends on the first diagnostic and the number of hours per day.

For somebody who scores 160+ cold, they may only need 4-6 weeks.

For someone who cold scores in the 150s, they can probably put in 6-8 weeks of good study time for a 170+.

Someone who scores in the lower or 140s or 130s, on the other hand, will require significantly more time. I think somebody has to really think hard about what to do if they score in this range as it can require many months to get a score for a respectable school.

See i dont think thats neccessarily true, it depends on WHAT you are messing up in.
When i took my first cold diagnostic i was incredibly nervous about the grade that i recieved (144), but once i realized that most of my mistakes were in LG and LR, i chilled out a bit since everything ive read so far has pointed to RC being the hardest score to raise. I think anyone who can put 1-2 (for section) months of serious effort (maybe get a private tutor) can end up averaging no more than 1 or 2 wrong in LG and LR. Granted i havent been studying seriously yet because of work and school among other things, but im pretty confident in my ability to get my grade up into the 170s once i put in 3 or 4 months of serious effort.

But yea, I have this feeling that I've shortchanged myself and haven't given myself the best chance to do well on the real thing. My diagnostic and all the tests I took sporadically last year were high, so that led me to believe I didn't need to put in as much work.

Okay sorry if you're averaging 179 on these PTs you could be fine. Ultimately depends on how you're PTing. Maybe consider taking in June.
