Should I take the February or June 2014 LSAT?
I'll be starting my junior year this fall and am trying to decide when to take the LSAT. In the fall I'll be taking 12 units and in the spring I'll be taking 15. Here is my schedule:
First day of fall classes: August 21
Last day of classes: December 9
Finals: December 11-13, 16-17
First day of spring classes: January 22
Last day of classes: May 13
Finals: May 15-16, 19-21
I'm leaning towards the February LSAT because I'll be able to finalize my studying over winter break, plus I'm only taking 12 units in the fall. For the June test I'd only have about two weeks or so after finals to devote all my time to studying, plus I'd be taking 15 units which would reduce the amount of time I could study during the semester.
That being said, I realize there are a lot of reasons that people discourage taking the LSAT in February (the fact that it's undisclosed among other things.) It seems that June is the traditional test date and I'm sure there's a good reason for that.
I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Have you taken a diagnostic yet? That may help to tell you how much work is ahead of you. The June test is at 1pm and the Feb is at 9 am. Do you have a preference concerning time of day?
What other commitments outside of school do you have?
Feb. might also be preferential in that it's a lot easier to study during winter (at least for me) when it's cold outside vs. May when I've been waiting 6 months to get outside and ride my bike. Just a thought.

I don't mind early tests. That's not an issue here.tuffyjohnson wrote:Have you taken a diagnostic yet? That may help to tell you how much work is ahead of you. The June test is at 1pm and the Feb is at 9 am. Do you have a preference concerning time of day?

I have internships lined up but that's during the summer. The only real commitment I have during the school year is reffing high school football, which is only Friday nights and the occasional Saturday (plus a Tuesday evening meeting every couple weeks.) I'm not really concerned with this taking too much time away.
I haven't yet taken a diagnostic test. How would I go about doing this?

There is a free one on LSAC's website that was administered in June 2007.
35 minutes per section.
