JUNE OR OCTOBER HELP

I have been studying for the LSAT since the end of February it is now May 7. My first practice test ever was a 148. My second test was a 158, and since then my scores have somehow stayed at 158 (or within 2 points) despite that fact that I study and take a class every Sunday. However I am a full-time student with a job, the past two months with all my regular work to do I don't think I have devoted as much time as I could have. Starting May 15 I am done with school and can devote full time until June 10th to studying. Do you think it is worth taking the June test, or should I just wait for the October and have all summer to study. I am afraid if I wait until October I may forget things, burn out, and I am also unsure if taking it that late can affect where I get in. Should I take in June or wait until october?

*also does anyone have any personal experience of how many points they were able to jump in the weeks before the test

Hey,
I started around the same time, also, working full time and school full time and I have pretty much reflected your scoring.
I was shooting for June, but have now decided on October because I know what a long road it is ahead and how much material there is to read and re-read.
Good luck!

What score do you want?

don't take in June unless you want a 158ish. don't want a 158ish unless you have not intention of going to law school. I personally think that it's possible for you to bumb at least 5-6 points within a month, but even if it is then all that shows is that you could go up double or triple that if you delay. wait till october.

I was hoping for a minimum of 165, I have a 3.6 GPA so getting an LSAT score in 158 range I think would really sell me short as far as where I would get into school. I probably will take in October.

You should be hoping for a minimum of 180.

These questions raise a interesting question. About how many hours of study does it take the average TLSer to gain 1 point on PTing?

It's not that you should wait till October. Its that you absolutely must wait till Oct if you want to maximize your potential, it's the only good plan here.

The sheer amount of things an answer to this question depends upon is staggering.

The answer to this is like the answer to "should I retake?"

If you have to ask, you definitely should.

October will not have an effect on your admission timing, you will have a few weeks to ED if you want and can spend the rest of the time working the rest of your application. Anything before Thanksgiving is fine, after that, you're late.

As far as how long it takes to improve, it depends on where you are. I think it's much easier to move from a 150-160 than it is to move from a 160-165. It's even more difficult to move from a 165-170, and every point above a 170 is the result of tens of hours of work.

I agree its a struggle, but it's because as you push against the narrowest region of the curve things just get harder relatively. Just opened a PT file to see a curve chart (68, most recent), -12 is a 170, -24 is a 162. Essentially to jump from 162 to 170 on this test you have to get half as many questions wrong, basically be twice as good.
