Just beginning to study, was wondering how often you guys would suggest a practice test in the initial stages of studying? So far I've only done a diagnostic, and have began reading the LRB and LGB.

I think one a week in the early stages is good, maybe once every two if you didn't get to do much drilling. Just don't use up modern tests early on and run out of material.

That's about what I would say. No use in blowing through PTs before you do the Bibles and some drilling. One a week just to track your progress in the early going is a good way to go. Once you start to get into your goal-range, you can up the rate to two a week. More than that isn't going to be productive.

Just recognize that those early PTs might show a slight dip in your score from the diagnostic. Once you start learning methods, you:
A) Slow down as you apply those methods
B) Freak out because you realize exactly how little you know about the exam
C) Realize the questions that you don't really know how to handle yet and feel a little bad about it (related to (B)).

I wouldn't bother taking any PTs until you are through the 3 bibles.

I take 4-5 a week, but I'm pretty much done with the bibles/mlsat. Regardless of how many you take, the most important thing is to make sure you review them and know what you did wrong/are missing. I'd suggest using lsatqa.com to track your progress/areas of weakness. Good luck!

I wouldn't do any practice tests at all for a while. Practice tests are a good diagnostic tool, but you should use your time to get better - not to measure how good you are. Do just a few questions at a time (1 game, 1 rc essay, 5-6 lr questions) and if you get any answers wrong or are not 100% sure why a correct answer is the correct answer, then check the answer explanations.
