what do you do in the position where the LR answer choices are all written in an abstract manner where they all seem attractive? is there any thing you can do to train yourself to better understand it?

Take it one abstract term at a time. Substitute the abstract idea from the answer choice with the specific language from the stimulus. If an abstract concept doesn't line up, then you can discount that answer choice. If everything lines up, you have your answer choice. If two ACs line up, you messed up.

But it's all about breaking those abstract ACs down into digestible bites.

If you are using the Cambridge packets, or pretty much any drilling material that arranges LR by difficulty, I'd say the higher level Role, Argument Structure and Method of Argument questions are worth practicing. These types don't rely on much to make them difficult besides references in the abstract, they should be free points on any section if you're comfortable with abstract language.
