So, the argument is quite simple:

Jackie likes Moral Vacuum's music.
---
Therefore, Jackie likes The Cruel Herd's music.

I understand that (A) strengthens by showing that The Cruel Herd's music is similar to Moral Vaccum's music in one way.

Why doesn't (D) strengthen?
(D) states that Jackie likes rock music.
The stimulus states Cruel Herd is rock music.
To me, that seems to very clearly strengthen...

Let's first address your argument. It is not right.

Premise is: Jackie is a big fan of Moral Vacuum + various ways how Cruel is similar to Moral

Conclusion: She will probably like The Cruel Herd's Album

Answer choice (D) is too generic. It does nothing to specifically support why she will probably like Cruel. (D) would actually make us wonder why Jackie would not like some other rock band that isn't Cruel. It doesn't help support our conclusion which is very narrow in scope.

Ty for the response.

Yeah, I see now that (D) is too broad.

The conclusion is about liking the new ALBUM. That's the key.
