Dude dont do this. Could end bad if you end up exhausted and still don't sleep anyways. Just start falling asleep/waking up when you want to on the day before/of the test about a week wrote the test so your body gets used to it naturally.

Better idea: take two tylenol PM at 8pm the night before the test, lay down 45 mins later, you will probably fall immediately asleep.

Any advice besides be normal and adjust your sleep schedule in advance is pretty much nonsense in my opinion.

+1, don't do anything drastic. Maybe some Tylenol PM or something, but OP's plan could be a disaster.
I think the best idea is to just take it easy the day before and try to forget about the LSAT, and go to bed early.

I've struggled a lot with my sleep. It's an on and off thing for me, and I definitely recommend a natural approach if you want to get it under control. When people say adjust your sleeping pattern, they mean before the week of the LSAT. Don't think you can magically optimize your sleeping pattern during the week before the LSAT. Start right now, and if that's not possible, at least figure out a way to start two weeks in advance.
For me, taking sleeping pills or pills that make one drowsy would leave me feeling way too out of it in the morning. The consequence of this was either shutting off my alarm in a stupor and falling back to sleep or getting up and being out of it for at least two hours.
Simply trying to sleep earlier than usual didn't work for me either. That was pure torture because I would just lie there for hours stressing out.
Necessary:
1. Don't eat or drink anything past a certain cut off. Seriously, don't even drink a large glass of water before bed.
2. Find a way to get in significant exercise during the day (definitely don't exercise close to bed time). You want to be tired enough that you're not reflecting on every life decision you've ever made while trying to get some shut eye.

A week out I started forcing myself to wake up an hour earlier each day until I was waking up at 7. I used melatonin tablets to help motivate me toward sleep. The night before the test I was able to fall asleep but I woke up around 5:30 and was too amped to go back to sleep. Still got a decent amount of rest though.

This is a horrible idea.

Test it out beforehand OP, that shit makes me groggy for hours the following day.
This is a good idea, IMO, as long as you test it. I couldn't fall asleep the night before the test just from nervousness.

I did something like this.
For 2 weeks before my test I slept at 9 pm and woke up early. Got a good thing going. Two days before my test I tried to sleep less.
The day before my test however...... I couldn't sleep. Was super stressed out. I ended up getting only 4 hours of sleep on top of not being able to sleep the day before.
Scored 5-6 points less than my average.

Get a good early morning workout every day leading up to the test and go to bed regularly at the same time. Eat dinner early enough to dump it before bedtime. Prepare well for the test and relax confidently. That should do it.

Drugs are the correct answer. Don't leave it up to routine, you don't know how the nerves will hit you.
Also, test said drugs beforehand so you can prepare accordingly.
Melatonin worked for me. Planned it so I woke up at 3:30 AM.

I think the sleep two nights before is more important than the actual night of, so sleeping really well Thursday night and not getting too much sleep Friday night shouldn't be too bad.
At least that's what I was taught when I used to run track/cross country and have been sticking by it for standardized tests, final exams, important interviews, etc.

This is a terrible idea. You should try to get as much sleep as you can every night for a week before the test (think drinking nyquill at 9 pm to pass out by 10...obviously don't do this the day before the actual test)
As far as the night before the test, just resign yourself to the fact it won't be a good night's sleep. but def. don't do anything to exhaust yourself because then...you'll be exhausted
