I was wondering if anyone could pass along any advice on skills to improve on before even beginning formal LSAT prep. Such as working on vocab and reading comprehension/speed and any methods or sources that you have found helpful.

Thanx in advance for any suggestions.

Other than the grammar, it wasn't a jest. Read Infinite Jest. Read Gravity's Rainbow. Get a subscription to Scientific American. If you have access to JSTOR, read some scholarly articles on areas of interest. Get used to dense reading.

And once you get through a few of them, make sure to read some scholarly articles on areas in which you have no interest whatsoever.

Only if you think you'll do well. Because those courses are complete overkill for the LSAT, but they have a tendency to be very difficult. If you excel in one, the LSAT will be a breeze. If you don't, you'll have over-prepped for the LSAT (or underprepped if you get completely lost) and made your GPA suffer for it.
