I think of it as x----> y with a A for all over the line with a slash through it to indicate not.

I also don't diagram that anymore. I just think of it as 0-99% of x's are y's.

Indeed. It is wrong because this: "Some" in LSAT language means there's a possibility of x being 1-100% y. "Not all x are y" explicitly says that 100% of Xs being Ys is not an option. Again I agree with panda that diagramming isn't completely necessary on this one, just remember the numbers, which are 0-99%.

so is 'not all x are y' a conditional statement?

idts, conditionals are statements that can be put into if/then form.

this s**t has got me crazy. i think i'll just get a horse and go live in the mountains...stop bothering ppl.

Also some people put an arrow going from left to right to indicate the flow on the diagram. I stopped doing that b/c I always read mine left to right. However, it flows left to right.
