Start with a really easy section... It'll give you confidence to plow through!
I have 32 38 and 65 printed right now ready to be demolished (hopefully I can go -0 on these three so I don't have to be up toooooo late); didn't really look at the games to see their level of difficulty. Frankly, it shouldn't matter.
65 is a bit tricky. I'm sure you'll see this after you destroy it though :)

PT 32 LG (-0) with a couple mins to spare - 1 down, 2 more to go :)

PT 49 (I think this was fresh, but could have been an Oct test):

175 - 95/100
LG: -0
LR: -1
RC: -2
LR: -2

What an unforgiving curve! I think I'm actually happier with the tighter curves though.

PT 64

LR: -4
LG: -6
LR: -4
RC: -3

167.

Yikes. I don't know what happened with LR. At least I got my RC to below double digits this time. LGs are still raping me. STUPID error of misinterpreting rules in game 3 that cost me points and time.

Back to the grind.

Edit: LMAO. I'm so bad at LGs that I missed an orientation questions....wtf. I missed #1. I have some serious games issues.

After reviewing: DUMB DUMB DUMB errors. It should have been at worst, -3 for LG. I just have to focus and slow down. This should have been a 170 PT.

Preptest 57
175

LG -0
LR 1 -1
LR 2 -2
RC -3

It's very frustrating that what was once my strongest section is now my weakest. Also I feel like this was one of the most difficult LG sections I've taken in a while. The first game wasn't super hard but was confusing, although I feel like I've seen it somewhere before (I've only done like 12 practice tests and I keep very thorough records, maybe I just saw it somewhere on the internet), second game was easy, but the third game with the dinosaur was really confusing!! I spent way too much time on it, but thankfully the fourth game wasn't too bad, and I brute forced it pretty quickly.

Well I did LR2 in PT59 today timed, -10. I was irate the rest of the day, spent the day at work reading tips on LR. I come home, redo the section untimed. 1 wrong, 1 unanswered. I reviewed the ones I got incorrect and they were easy.

I read the tips I got in here and I don't think I spent enough time trying to understand the stim. Especially in weaken and strengthen questions. I rarely ever looked for the conclusion and just tried to strengthen the entire argument. This time I just went to strengthen the conclusion or fill in a gap and it helped.

We'll see how I do on a timed PT tomorrow.

0s on games, -5s or less on RC, but LR still gets me timed. I will destroy them come Monday. I must.

Also what in God's name is "purport"? It was the only I got wrong on my retake of the section, well besides #20 which I have no clue about and just skipped. Never seen this word in my life.

Ah okay. Such an awkwardly worded answer. I prephrased the answer and then got there and all I see is "purported" and I had no idea what was going on. :lol:

Can anyone help on on the bicycle game (PT 64, S3)? Plugging and chugging for #15-18 can't be right. That takes up WAY too much time. I'm not drawing any inferences on this game.

I did it recently so I think this is what you are talking about. Two rules that lead to the inferences on the questions: Y1--->S2; and T needs to test H.

The first rule combined with the second rule tells us that Y1 and S2 both can't be H. Also, S2 can't be J because of the no YJ rule. So Y1 and S2 need to be either F or G. Since there are only 4 variables to place per day (and R is restricted from testing F) , that makes it a lot easier to place the others. Did you notice that when you did it?

Where does everyone diagram in the new LG format? On the first page, right next to the rules, or on the second page where most of the questions are?

I've been going with a large diagram on the right side of the first page. This way I have plenty of room for hypos or plug and chug if necessary.

When I did 68 I had it right underneath the rules and the next page was hypo central. Worked fine for me - don't think I'll do any different come game day.

I've been doing this, as well, but find that there is a bit more of a visual break between most of the questions and the rules/diagram. I'll give the other way a shot and see how it goes.

PT 65 95/101 for a 177

-1 LR (#25 in Section 1, the coffeehouse formal-logic question) How did ya'll diagram this?
-3 LG (Last game was difficult for me, didn't realize I was doing it wrong until I was almost done)
-2 RC (This RC seemed pretty straightforward)
-0 LR (The volleyball question almost got me, as did the un/domesticated wolves; changed both to the correct AC after reviewing before time was up)

This test was a big confidence boost for me. My last two tests were 171 and 173, both from the 60's. I think LG in the 60's is legitimately harder than earlier tests, but that may be a minority opinion. I've yet to -0 an LG from the 60's, even though I -0'd every test 50-59. I just have 66-68 left. I haven't yet decided whether I like or dislike the -13ish curve of recent tests.

1.Coffee Houses + Restaurants ---> Public Places
2.Well Designed PP (most) Feature Artwork
3.PP Uncomfortable ---> ~Well Designed
4.PP Comfortable ---> Spacious Interiors

D is correct because if we take the contrapositve of 3. we get Well Designed ---> PP Comfortable and so if a coffeeshop or restuarant is well designed then we know it's comfortable and anything that's comfortable has a spacious interior; thus any well-designed coffeeshop or restaurant has a spacious interior.

Thanks for that. I've never really done proper diagramming in my drilling- usually I can just sort through in my head. I recently went through the Parallel Reasoning/Flaw packets and found that it can be really helpful though. I'm now noticing it's somewhat of necessity on the harder formal logic questions. I think I was naturally averse to it at the beginning because the LRB emphasizes diagramming to such a degree that it would be highly detrimental for me to actually use it. I quit the LRB half way through because of this, and it occurs to me that this is probably immediately before it addressed problem types where diagramming would be useful.

Out of curiosity, how many of you diagram on LR, and how many questions per section? Looking through PT 65 I have 8 instances of "if then" arrows, but only 3 instances of actual diagramming all or most of a question. I only diagram AC's in the really long parallel questions. Should I be diagramming more?

Was S3(LR) in PT59 easy or did I finally make the jump to doing good on LR? Had -2 in the section, unfortunately the 2 I got wrong I had it down to 2 choices, one was my answer, the other was the correct answer.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
