The real reason to root against the Heat is because the Heat "fanbase" (broad use of the term) is an embarrassment to sports.Daily_Double wrote: Yeah it is. I just kept hoping they'd lose, not because I dislike the Heat, though I'm not a fan, but because we all know that if they didn't even make it to the finals, Lebron would put up unbelievable numbers next season and push even harder for that ring.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
Is anyone else finding that if they take the 15 minute break after the third section that their next section seems to fall below par of the others?
For instance, I did pt 57 today:
ex RC from PT B: -3
LG: -1 (ran out of time on 24, guessed between D and E...)
LR1: -1
Break
LR2:-6
RC: -1
put it down without reviewing and redid LR 2 without knowing which ones i missed or why, and went -1.
I've noticed this trend for me for the section after the break if it isn't a LG section, that is.

Raw Score: 90/101, LSAT Score: 172!
I felt really good about everything except one passage of RC where I missed 3 questions... damn! But I would be MORE than happy with a 172 on the test, so no complaints. I'm going to sleep well tonight and then go over the questions I got wrong after work.
Congrats.. what has been your score for your past couple of PTs?

Being as this is the major, and potentially last, topic of discussion before the members of this thread move into what I'm guessing will be titled "June 2013 Waiters," and since I've changed my mind about what I'm going to do, which is mostly attributed to an undesirable score I got on PT 67 today, I thought I'd open it back up. So if we accept that June 10th is just another PT, and since, for at least some of us, myself included, it would seem people take at least one test within a two day, or less, period, it seems logical to take a PT on Saturday. With that in mind, I plan on taking, and reviewing at least four sections, probably just a PT from the 60s, a day, until Saturday. On Saturday I'll retake 66 or 67, but I won't grade it, and then look over the writing prompts of at least one PT, and I'm sure that I'll probably laugh and remind myself of my eloquence and literary grace, then go out with some friends, and eat healthy, workout, definitely not in that order, and get my shit together on Sunday. Monday I'll probably wake up and do the LG section from 67, and print off 68 and bring it with me to a coffee place near the test center at 10:15 review until 11:15, walk over at 10:30, etc.
Oh, and it looks like, based upon the last, 190 pages of posts, that at least some, I'd say most, but that depends upon how I describe the term us, of us are very prepared for this. Just thought I'd remind you guys of that.

How long have you been studying? If you haven't already been studying for months and or/you're still improving, maybe it's worth it to put off taking the test until October? Especially if you've already taken it before (don't know if this applies to you or not).isuperserial wrote:New high score! Just took the December 2009 test

Despite the fact that is will be a brand new test it won't be novel. We have all seen LSATs before and more than just a few. I for one choose to believe that the months I have spent preparing will not be for naught next week.

Am I the only dweeb who loves that we're taking PT 69? Every time I start getting worked up about the thought of test day, I try to remind myself that it's not only just another PT, it's the most ridiculously numbered PT yet. Sure, that doesn't actually matter, but it matters.

Do you think its better to redo PTs in the 60's or take fresh sections from 40's, and 50's?Daily_Double wrote:Being as this is the major, and potentially last, topic of discussion before the members of this thread move into what I'm guessing will be titled "June 2013 Waiters," and since I've changed my mind about what I'm going to do, which is mostly attributed to an undesirable score I got on PT 67 today, I thought I'd open it back up.

Im thinking of doing 65 (new) tomorrow, 68 (old) ,64 (new) thursday, 63 (old) ,66 (new) saturday, with light review sunday, then on game day I'm gonna wake up to LG from probably 66 (because its June of 2012, but i havent seen it yet), and I'll print out 68 again because it was the most recent one...
Do you guys review PT's that youve done once before you do them again? or do you go into them as blind as possible?

Technically I go into them as blind as possible, for me. Though I thoroughly review each PT. I'm of the opinion that there's more value per minute in reviewing than PTing, thus I recommend reviewing extensively instead of new stuff at this point in the game. However, there's also value in taking recent tests, the upper 60s, if we assume that the sooner the PT to the test, the more relevant it will be, which I think is a valid assumption.mvonh001 wrote:Do you think its better to redo PTs in the 60's or take fresh sections from 40's, and 50's?

To respond to you and mvonh001 simultaneously, my past few scores have been from most recent to least, 170, 171, 171.TheMostDangerousLG wrote:How long have you been studying? So I have actually been holding relatively steady lately, I don't think managing to get another question right necessarily means I've gone up a whole level. I basically read the Powerscore Bibles during the first semester of this year, and then took a Testmasters course up until now. 1st diagnostic with them was a 163, and I've never taken the LSAT before. I'd be really happy with a 171, or a 172. I'd probably be satisfied with a 170, anything lower falls into retake territory for me.

I'm planning on golfing early saturday and sunday morning. I think I'm being a bit anal, but this shouldn't be a problem right? I'll be done by 1:00PM both days.
I'm thinking: get home by 2, nap until 3:30, eat, then drill/review for a few hours.

Omg I made a breakthrough in LR for myself. And I did the simplest thing you can possibly think of.

That actually sounds awesome. God I wish I was good at golf. It's one of my many future intentions to make my future son, yeah I'm making a few assumptions here, be good at it. When I play I just end up doing poorly, and since I have a habit of only doing sports I'm good at, I usually stick to something that involves physically throwing, or shooting I guess depending upon the difference between a shot an a throw, a ball at something.californiauser wrote:I'm planning on golfing early saturday and sunday morning. Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
How does everyone here notate RC? It's killing me that my scores in RC are still inconsistent and not perfect, and I still have to rush through each section. I think my problem is that I spend too reading and annotating the passage; I get stuck staring at the trees, and by the time I've seen the forest, it's time to move on to the next forest. I've been spending the morning doing RC passages without taking notes (/taking the bare minimum). Seems like the time I'm making up reading just gets converted into time spent working on the questions..
Blergh. Wish I could feel as confident about RC going into game day as I do about LR (and to a lesser extent, LG).

Yeah, but mainly just because it's fun, it's not like I'm tall or extremely good. But if there's three people or more and we're playing 21 or knockout, I'm not easy to beat.The-Specs wrote:DD, you play basketball? I think most of us that are retaking PTs are taking ones we haven't seen in months, so this isn't much of an issue.jas1503 wrote:Does redoing PTs help...I mean, you already know the answers, right?

People readily acknowledge that redoing LG is helpful in learning common inferences, expanding your games vocabulary, and sharpening your ability to mentally picture the setup.
I think redoing other sections confers similar, analogous benefits. Especially if you make sure to walk through the process of eliminating incorrect answer choices, giving mental reasons.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
I'm hoping to get some advice from you guys!
I booked the June LSAT a looonng time ago. Then I ended up having a medical issue come up through April which stopped me from studying for the LSAT. Other things came up as well and I'm nowhere close to the score I want to get on the LSAT. In all honesty, I've studied for about a week now. I took my first timed test ever (PT 65) and scored a 151.
LR: -17
LG: -14
RC: -12
I'm planning on still writing the test next week as "practice" since I already paid for it, then writing again in October.
What should I focus on over the next week? I've been doing LG sections for practice since I've read that is the easiest to improve on, but I feel like I'm leaving a lot of easy marks on the table with LR. I don't have time go to through the entire PS bible so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I should add that I've gone through the entire PS LG bible, albeit extremely quickly. I understand the concepts for the games I'm just not fast enough yet. The moderate difficulty ones take me between 11-12:30 minutes usually. I'm hoping with practice this will drop.
