Just took diagnostic... Where do I go from here?

Diagnostic scaled score: 152
S1 (Reading Comp): 17/28
S2 (Logical Reasoning #1): 18/25
S3 (Logic Games): 8/22 (!!!)
S4 (Logical Reasoning #2): 20/25

I took the diagnostic exam completely cold (since I haven't started preparing for the LSAT yet) and with regular timing limits in place. I had trouble with timing, especially for the first two sections, and I had A LOT of trouble analyzing and diagramming the logic games questions.

Overall, it was a disappointing experience, to say the least.

Is it realistic for me to improve my score, especially the Logic Games section? I'm hoping to get a 170+ when I take the real thing. Is this possible for someone with a strong work ethic, or is a 20-point gap too large to bridge through preparation? I was hoping to take the real thing this summer.

Thanks!

You have plenty of time to study for June, and can definitely hit 170+ with proper preparation. Get the Powerscore or Manhattan series and read everything, then start doing drills and more PTs. The good news is that Games is the easiest to improve, so don't let that 8/22 worry you, that's the hardest section to take cold and the easiest section after significant prep.

I think it's actually a good thing for logic games to be your weakest section, because that's the easiest one to learn specifically for the test. There are many tricks to logic games that are not easy to figure out on your own but can improve your performance a lot once you're aware of them.

It can be done. Doing better than half of all test takers when you havent studied is pretty good.

I regularly see students go from a low-150 diagnostic to the 170s, so it's definitely do-able.

My first ever cold diagnostic was an 8/23 on Logic Games and i just got 20/23 in October. That section may seem impossible at the beginning of your studies but with practice you will most certainly improve significantly.
