If you can afford to take another year off, I say it's definitely worth it.

I retook a 166 (December 2011) this October and only scored 3 points higher. It was slightly disappointing, but on the other hand, a 169 still opens doors that a 166 doesn't. (Lawschoolpredictor only has me denied at Harvard, all the rest are at least a consider). And you have until June to prepare, so I feel like you could at LEAST break 170. I certainly don't see any harm in retaking, and it could help a LOT.

I am in the same boat entirely. I studied my ass off for this test and got a 164. I think I can do better but I'm not sure that I want to try! I know that sounds terrible but studying was rough.

Also my gpa isn't the greatest but I did graduate from Cal and I'm a minority. I feel like if I play my cards right I can get into a good school. But maybe I'll retake it in February or June? Thoughts??

Oh and also I don't know what else I can do to study! I took the blueprint course and literally did every homework and extra practice that was offered. Any suggestions??

If you want to retake just to hit your previous average, don't bother. With the amount of time you have to prepare, you should aim for mid 170s - If you are hitting 168 to 169, then you're clearly capable.

Retake. Right now, you are most likely OUT at UT, because you are below both medians.
