Double negation PT 38 S1 24

Post by powerguy » Mon Oct 08, 2012 1:43 am

I am hard time trying to decode this Two year olds naturally do not dislike salty food so much that they wouldnt choose it over other foods.

Does it mean that "Two year olds naturally like salty food so much that they wouldn't choose it over other foods?

How should I handle such double/triple negations?

Do you guys know about any other such double/triple negations?

Really confused.

Thanks

This is quite a misleading construction. I would take it as "Two year olds may naturally dislike salty foods, but the dislike is not strong enough to make them avoid salty foods at all costs when choosing between salty and non-salty foods".
