Couldnt a california guy ask an east coast friend to take the lsat who has a really good memory and leave the test center and send him that information before that individual's test starts?

That seems like a legitimate cheating scheme the LSAC wants to prevent. How do they prevent that?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but due to the sheer length of the LSAT wouldn't the east coast person still be taking the test when the west coast person started, even with the time zone difference? Especially when you consider you have to get to the test center early and can't have your cell phone.

I think if you're taking in Hawaii you can do this

The problem is that the sections don't appear in the same order on every test. Two people next to each other will have the same questions, but the sections will be in a different order. So, your friend just gave you the answers to section 1, but for you, that might be section 3.

Ignoring the cheating aspect, this just means you're bound for failure

What if Games is the last section your friend gets?
Also, Games are quite possibly the most learnable part of the LSAT and with sufficient practice it should be the part least in need of cheating.

If you're struggling with games, I daresay you're lacking sufficient mental fiber.

You could also have glasses with an inbuilt camera, an in-ear radio, and a friend on standby to help you. The LSAC has no way of stopping that either.

And lets say its the first section...

What then? Even if it isnt, it seems like hawaii people would have even more time for east coast test takers to help them.

Umm the lsac could stop the former by having continental america take test at the same time, eg, east coast takes it at 2 while west starts at 11. Hawaii can take test that international takes.

This is an easy fix. What say you ding bat?

Why does europe and asia take a different test than americans take? Is it due to the same cheating scheme i have mentioned above? If so, why not end the threat everywhere.

It can be done. Is it likely that this happens often? no.
A) you would need someone who is capable of getting a perfect score and of memorizing the exact answers in order, in a very short time (remember, said person first needs to solve the problems), and retain this information long enough to leave the exam area and communicate this to you
B) said person would need to be willing to take the test, then walk out (not to mention be located on the east coast for test day
C) you would need to be able to memorize the answers in the exact order within a very short period of time and retain this knowledge while solving whatever sections come first

It's not impossible, but it's not likely to be much help.

I can come up with several reasons, but I do not know which, if any, is correct.

some, yes.
A point worth making is that for all of continental US, it's practically impossible for that kind of cheating, because the test on the east coast will not have ended before the test on the west coast starts.
However, to have 1 test for 49 states and a separate test for Hawaii would open LSAC up to charges of discrimination. Considering that in relation to the relatively low number of Hawaii test takers

Good point, though the hawaii discrimination thing would be ridiculous. It is just a matter of fairness with extreme time overlaps.

This won't work for the West Coast. From the time you enter the test site without your phone to the time you leave takes an absolute minimum of 4 hours and many times over 5 hours, and the west coast is only 3 hours back. You can't leave the site early at all as you suggested before and have your test scored, you have to stay the full course, unless for some reason someone sat through the test for the sole reason of leaving early to help out a buddy and knew they wouldn't have their test scored. And mind you if this was an East Coaster trying to help out a West Coaster, the East Coaster couldn't even sit through the whole thing. If they were extremely lucky they'd get at the most four sections, but these things never start on time so they'd probably have to leave and alert their friend after only having been through 3 full sections and the break. Seems hardly worth it.

Therefore, the only place your proposed cheating scheme could work would be Hawaii since they're six hours back from EST. Thus, it's safe to conclude Barack Obama scored a 180 on his LSAT.

Speculating about cheating on the LSAT?
