pure conjecture, but its been a while since we had a dinos / mulch stone + photojournalist / stained glass + conferences game section - a few years. Think we due for one of these killers?

not hard , just unusual compared to precedent games at the time. In any case, that weird game followed by the journalist game with the "field" ambiguity certain goes down as one of the most challenging lsat game sections ever

I also thought the mulch game was easy but kids were going crazy about it after the test.

I still have stained glass nightmares.
what killed me on that one was the lack of absolute deductions. relied so heavily on conditions and visualizations (or writing a ton, very small if you prefer)

I'd gladly do a test with the 4 hardest games you could come up with if it meant I was guaranteed an easy RC section

recognize it is primarily a function of one's individual strengths but personally i see nowhere near the variation in difficulty in RC that I see in LG - from test to test.

Even if there is less variation in difficulty, there is more variation in my scores for RC. But like you said, just comes down to individual strengths.

Difficulty of games are also somewhat arbitrary. I thought the dinosaur games was one of the easier games I had seen. Just figure out the limited options for the two mauve dinosaurs and realize that past that, the final two spaces are extremely wide open. On the other hand, the grants game right afterwards killed me, and nobody complains about that one.
As long as I don't see something approaching Seats on the Bus, I'll be okay. (Knock on wood...)

lol oh my I forgot about those
aren't they giving us an entire extra page for each LG question?

If at any time you are taking the exam, but have yet to work on LG, and you hear a collective grumble or some other vocalized distress, just know some shitty shit is coming your way.

Are you guys suggesting that the games will be hard on sat because the recent ones have been easy? That makes me nervous. The recent games have been too easy....pt 63-66 have been so much easier than some of the beasts from older 20s and 30s pts. Fuck.

Ugh, please don't let this be the case.
The LAST thing I need is to mess up on a games, and feel like my score is out of reach at the onset, and have that affect my performance for the rest of the test.

Game can destroy me. This makes me so nervous. For example, if games hurt me I get high 160s, but if games go well I get high 170s.

I don't necessarily mind a harder games section (i tend to do the same regardless of difficulty, something to do with my guessing skills maybe). I just don't want TWO games sections (the experimental one being a game). Its my weakest section and I don't want to get 2 chances to mess up my mental focus.

I don't know why people think mauve dinos was so hard... that game is a lesson in converting negative information to positive information. If you simply marked what colors that included dinos had to be, you're left with only 4 that could potentially be mauve, three of which were further limited through rules, thus greatly simplifying the game. If you didn't do that, you'd be fretting and scribbling for 10-15 minutes. (Try it again and see what I mean.)
That's not to say that I got lucky or someone is lucky who does that, but this is just a general principle you should use when you do a game--convert negative information to positive information whenever possible.
I think most people would agree that mulch game was a joke, and the stained glass game was similarly not even the most difficult game in that section, let alone "a killer."
I do think the photojournalist game was one of the more difficult games, but to me the only games I "fear" are ones like seats on a bus that have absolutely no inferences or shortcuts in them and require pure brute force. And the only reason I fear those is because they have a base time that can't be lowered, whereas any game with inferences will have a lower time floor.
I think a game similar to seats on a bus is most likely to show up rather than some of the more volatile games you mention, especially because we now have so much more room to work with, so they may attempt to roll out another brute force game with no real inferences to be made.

What is another seats on a bus style game that people found to be hard?
