Logical Reasoning Question

I took a test today and the logical reasoning confused the crap out of me...
It seems as if every question on the October 2008 LSAT was if then statements and I was confused on which questions to diagram and which ones not to...Also when I diagram it's almost like I forget what the actual argument is about. I took the approach on a prior exam to only diagram the parallel reasoning and I was able to move through them quickly but only got 50% correct so this time I took the "mechanical" approach and diagrammed as many as I can. My mind felt like it was going to explode by the end of the test.
Someone please help me.
I'm about 3 months into studying and these scores are what I have so far
cold diag 137
147,145,149
I'm about to give up!!
What am I missing???!!
People keep telling me to take PT after PT... but I need to know a good approach to the arguments otherwise I'm not really learning anything by taking them over and over.
